new member woo! im rebecca 19 from liverpooooooll, and i will be descending to ibiza on 8th aug til the 22nd this year, and i absolutely cannot wait!!!

i am in fact an ibiza virgin, and wondered if u could all enlighten me on a few things.......

whats the general dress code for clubs over there?? what do girlies wear and what not?

how much would people generally take for 2 weeks? im aiming to take 1400...

ive been told the boys to girl ratio is 10:1 haha.... is this true?

replies much appreciated!!! xx :D mwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah xx

nuts or zoo magazine did an article last summer on clubs in ibiza and the ratio varied. some clubs had girls 3-1 most were 3 guys to 2 and others 50/50 there was one i think it was a manumission night and it was 5-1 guys, i wonder if the sex show had anything to do with it???????????

Firstly, is your name really Minnie? Quite rare... my mom's name as well.

Re: budget
1400 what? pounds, euros or dollars?
Pounds - you'll be just fine. Even 100 euros/day can work. The missus and I party a lot and usually get by on a budget of 250-300 euros/day for 2 (that's average over our usual 2 week stay... party nights we spend more, other days less)

Re: male/female ratio
I suppose it depends on where you're hanging out! I've never noticed it to be significantly lopsided.

Back on the budget issue, I wouldn't take cash with you. If you have a bank card with visa/electron or mastercard/maestro there are plenty of atms around for withdrawing cash as you need it. Restaurants and shops take cards too.

I'd say take as much as possible. I've never actually been out clubbing it in Ibiza but from going on holiday with my m8s i know u spend more than u think. Ended up spending £750 in a week in Malia last year and we had a free bar until 1am 3nites out of 7 and i never went out 1 nite plus clubs where free entry. Since Ibiza is more expensive i'd taking all i can.

I do agree with the last post 2, dont take much cash. I'd take travellers cheques or a bank card and out a small amount in cash.

There has been many a trip where I've literally had no cash on me except for enough rubles for the taxi ride home from the airport when I get back

Wherever you travel these days, there are bank machines dispensing the local currency. It's usually my first stop in the airport.

yeah £1400 figured i should be ok with that as my budget wont stretch further ha.. oo i cant wait and theres still 2 months! and no my name isnt minnie although i wish it was ;)

about 100 pounds sterling a day should sort u, i took 600 last year for seven nights and ran out on the last morning..£1400 should be sound...

This is true as to almost everywhere I have been. In Laos there are only 3 cash machines in the whole country, all of which are in Vientiene, the capital. So for advice of going there, unless your entering the country in the capital make sure you have plenty of local money. However Ibiza is riddled with cash machines like most cities/places around the world so worry not

Yes, I'd advise taking cash to Uzbekistan too. There are official and unofficial exchange rates so you're better of changing dollars on the street (bring a suitcase... they've only got small bills. I had to wear baggy jeans to make sure I always had enough cash on me )

Plenty of couples so no problems there. The missus and I have traveled together in 5 of my 6 years visiting the island. You have the option of going out for a nice dinner just the two of you, or you can go make party friends in the bars and clubs. You'll be fine... plus you'll have someone making sure you get home!

I also think you'll be fine with that budget - works out to about 215 euros/day for two. Just ration yourself when you go out so that you don't end up running low towards the end of the week. Maybe save the good restaurant nights for the days when you don't go clubbing and go cheap eats on club days.

cool sounds good. Any restraunts or events that should not be missed??

Tons of good restaurants and events, some of which you'll have no choice but to miss

Where are you staying and on what dates?

I'm there for 2 weeks beginning this Friday. Eeek! :D

You'll have the full slate of parties to go to (aside from the whole Bora Bora/DC10/Amnesia debacle)

Check the party calendar here: http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/night/events

I'd recommend the Renaissance opening @ Pacha among other events that first week. We Love @ Space on Sundays, Release Yourself w/ Roger Sanchez @ Pacha on Mondays, 2 Many DJs are playing Pacha on July 5. In San An, the Dusted line-up at Eden on that first Monday you'll be there is alright.

If you like techno, look out for Cocoon, Monza, Meganite. If you like trance, there are Cream, Armada and Judgement Sundays.

You'll definitely want to pop over to Cafe Mambo in San An's sunset strip for a sunset. Alternatively, you can have a more chilled sunset experience at Kumharas, which is down towards the end of the bay.

Head into Ibiza Town's Dalt Vila area for at least one nice dinner out. I recommend La Oliva, or La Brasa which is just below the walls outside the Dalt Vila.

Perhaps someone else could recommend some good places in San An to eat?
Or better yet, check out the Ibiza Holidays Open Chat section as there have been several restaurant discussions.
