Ibiza virgin- how does this week sound?

So I've managed to convince my best friend to come with me to Ibiza next Friday, we've both never been before and this is our plan for the week (bear in mind we both love electro and house, hate trance and techno).

Friday- We land at 10pm so thinking go to hotel, get dressed then head to the west end.

Sat & Sunday- Gonna go to bora bora either one of these days and have a party on the beach! The night will prob just be meal then drinks, gonna try to go to cafe del mar for the sunset as well.

Monday- Got tickets to see swedish house mafia at pacha

Tuesday- Thinking of doing the boat party, then water party, I know you get free entry to space with the boat party but I really don't wanna see Carl Cox, it's just not my type of music.

Wednesday- Prob gonna have a quiet night to recover

Thursday- Hoping to get tickets to see David Guetta at pacha

Friday- Fly home.

What does everyone think? We want to fit a lot in but don't wanna burn out, so that's why we've planned a few quiet nights. Has anyone got any suggestions on how we could improve our week or anything we're missing?

1. Dont go to Guetta.

2. Get refund on SHM tickets.

3. Go to Space "early on" on Sunday.

4. Try Subliminal at Pacha.

5. Stay away from da westend.

Ignore DSD, if you fancy doing all that then Im sure youll have a blast. One thing I would say, if youve got free entry for Carl Cox, I'd really go and take a look, Youll love the vibe and you will have done Space, plus the sunset terrace isnt too heavy. Go on, give it a go ;)

Instead of going pacha twice sack Guetta off and go to Cream on the thursday night. I know you said your not into trance and you'd associate cream with trance but on that night in particular Calvin Harris and Chris Lake are on in the terrace. Both have been excellent at Cream this year and fit your electro and house requirements! Plus its worth going just to experience amnesia!

On the saturday id say go catch the sunset and soak up the defected pre party, then hit es paradis for hed kandi. More than likely get free entry for that aswell so a cheap local night.

Id say go to we love on the sunday aswell, again because space is something you cant go to ibiza and not experience! All kinds of different types of house music here aswell for you.

I wouldn't do any of that :p
But it's your holiday so do what makes you happy! I have to agree with we love it's a great night, I would also do defected if I had the chance which you do. The house scene generally in Ibiza is less commercial than the likes of SHM and guetta, I wouldn't waste my money I saw SHM years ago before they were 'famous' but I cring whenever I hear someone try and tell me they're house dj's as I hate commercial music. From your list it sounds like you could listen to a scott mills mash up and be quite happy to 'rave' to it.
But it's your holiday, so my advice is do what makes YOU and your friend happy ;)
My advice is anything from
Sat-defected
Sun-we love
Mon-DC10 followed by cocoon8)
Tue-Carl cox
Wed-channel zoo
Thur-kekuma
Fri-f**k me I'm famous?
God I'd be a complete wreck after that lot
Also worth looking at mambos line up the week you come you could get the chance to see some good dj's there at the pre party's on your chill out nights. I think you'd like Ibiza rocks bar and plastik bar in San an to. Avoid the west end unless you like fighting it's been especially bad this year according to all the workers I spoke to. Dump!

I would only go to Pacha once - as mentioned, Defected/Subliminal- or maybe Pete Tong - would be a better choice than SHM or FMIF IMO.

Go to Space, there will be plenty of house/electro. Carl Cox or We Love would be the best choices.

Avoid Amnesia as you prob won't like the music at any of the nights.

Go to DC10 on Monday aft/evening as well, it's much housier these days and you can do Pacha afterwards too, if you really can't cancel SHM (DC10 on from 4.30pm till about 2am)

Worth checking out lineups for Sankeys too.

Have fun.

Thanks for your replies, yeah I really didn't want to go to Pacha twice so was thinking of going Cream for Calvin Harris, but saw him at Gatecrasher back and May and my friend wasn't overly impressed.

I'm not sure about Ibiza rocks, I mean don't get me wrong I don't mind a bit of commerical music, but that just strikes me as somewhere which would be too commerical even for me.

I do love Hed Kandi though, always go to their nights at Gatecrasher, so might check that out.

Was thinking of We Love at Space as well, but not sure if the friend is keen.

Is Ibiza very trancey then? I thought there'd be a lot of electro/house djs there, but doesn't seem to be that many. Was hoping to see someone like Laidback Luke, Armand Van Helden, Afrojack or Deadmau5.

Only seeing SHM for Axwell tbh, I saw him at Global and thought he was amazing, plays the exact type of music I love.

Arghh I have a lot to think about now!

Those nights wouldn't be my choices but surely if you like electro then Tonight @ Amnesia on the Tuesday is a given?

Not sure if I'm right but assumed you're there on the 30th. The lineup is: Eric Prydz, Maya Jane Coles, Annie Mac, Erol Alkan, Fake Blood, The 2 Bears which is pretty electro!

Won't be too rammed either.

I've never heard trance in Ibiza, but I go where the techno is 8)
I'm sure you'll have a great time don't plan too much it'll ruin the fun ;)

I wanted to go to this, but my friend says she wasn't too impressed with Eric Prydz at Creamfields

The 2 bears make me laugh! Hmm will have to try and pursuade her then! She wants to do this bloody water party at es paradis so bad, but I'm really not fussed on it....

Yeah I think we said we were gonna get chatting to some people and see what they say about certain nights and stuff before we go and buy tickets. I just don't wanna pay 60 euros to go in a club and hate all the music :( I'm getting a bit stressed now which is silly I know, just thinking I wanna make sure we have a really good week and go to more clubs than just pacha and es paradis, but it's difficult when most clubs don't seem to playing the music we like and when they are it's on the same nights as other things. Like I would love to see Tiesto, but it's the same night as SHM :(

Thinking maybe I should just forget the whole plan and see what happens when we're over there?

All the DJs you mention have been (or are on) the line-ups out there, just not in the particular week you have chosen to go ! You don't say if you are OK with progressive house .. it's definitely not trance and although more techy it's definitely not techno.

Tonight @ Amnesia on Tuesday is probably a good shout for your tastes

We Love Space on Sunday is also full of likely matches.

I also wouldn't bother with Guetta @ Pacha. You can barely make out what he plays aside from thudding, the volume is so loud for the room size, and aside from the spectacle the crush experience is really just not worth it (imho) unless you've seen him live and really like his sets...

I would of course recommend just taking a chance and trying Sasha's Never Say Never party instead - you never know, you might like the kind of sets he plays there.. no better way to explore a more mature style of tech house than at one of Sasha's gigs.. and since it finishes at midnight you can have a more civilized last night for a first trip.

I can see if I can find the link to a download of his set from the opening if you are interested. It was posted on the forum a while back but cannot for the life of me find it at the moment.

[Edit - here it is : http://uploaded.to/file/gb9s7579]

Most of all don't get stressed .. there are loads of bars as well as clubs .. many of these will likely be in to what you're in to ...

Some excellent advice from Kim there, after reading your last post though regarding stressing out my new advice is find someone else to go with! It sounds like she's getting it all her own way and it's not fair in my opinion. You could end up falling out once here I've seen it every holiday I've had in Ibiza she sounds selfish and you don't. Don't let her ruin your experience ;)

Allways choose you're party people right.

Never will forgett this dude I met in IBIZA who told me the best night in his life was a night in Las Vegas. Driving through las vegas with a limo all dressed up and going to an vip party from 1-3 in the morning.
I only felt sorry for him. Beeing in IBIZA and don't having the best time of your life is just wrong.

Saturday - Go to Mambo and watch the sunset, either eat there and listen to the guest DJ or bring drink and sit on the rocks theres always people there and a great atmosphere. Then you could go onto Defected at Pacha or you could scrap the sunset and do that another night and go to Defected at Ushuaia beach hotel from 5pm-midnight. Or you could even go to Zoo project which is a party in an old abandoned zoo where people dress up as animals its only on until midnight as well. It may not suit your musical tastes but it is a nice change as it is such a unique venue.

Sunday - Go to Bora Bora for the beach party and then go straight onto space for We Love. You´d definitely find something to suit your musical taste in there and its a great party and club to say you have been to.

Monday - If you have already got you SHM ticket all I suggest is that you get there early, if you are talking about going on the 29th Aug to SHM then they are all there as well as Exampe and A-Trak so it will get very busy. So by getting there early you can get yourself a good spot where you have some space to dance (i suggest behind the speaker which is centrally located behind the entrance as soon as you walk into the main room as you wont be pushed and shoved and will have a great view of DJ booth.

Tuesday - The boat party is a nice thing to do and the music will suit your taste, but seeing as you wouldnt be taking advantage of the carl cox entry it may be a bit pointless buying the package - depending on you budget. So maybe try Tonight at Amnesia.

Wednesday - You could go to see SHM at Ushuaia from 5pm-midnight if you decide not to go to pacha on the monday. Ushuaia is a must see so if you don´t go on Wednesday check out their other parties as they do Sasha ´Never say never´/Luciano on a thursday which are both good parties (Sasha probs best suited to you)

Thursday - Agree with most of the others scrap this, its a rip off and they over sell so you arent guarenteed to get in (I think) so defo go to cream at amnesia, you must go to amnesia once its my fave :) and you´d like the music with Laidback Luke there a lot but i think it will be Calvin Harris when you go.

Friday - You go home after having the best week of your life. ps. bring a lot of spending money Ibiza isn´t cheap

No matter what night you do, you'll have a blast. Just get over there and do what you want.

The Trance nights out there have been epic, so don't necessarily put them down. Calvin Harris was really good at Cream too when I was there a few weeks back, and Tiesto was pretty good too.

SHM and Guetta's night have constantly been so rammed it's been dangerous, so keep that in mind.

These threads really piss me off, all the ibiza know it alls preaching from their "vast experience" of the island and their wonderful taste in music.

1. Not everyone like the same music, to some Guetta is great and to some he is a twat. Why try telling someone who is initially interested in this ans SHM to go to We Love or Kehakuma as chances are they wont like the music. Go to SHM, you'll have a great time in Pacha but expect it to be very busy! Guetta is similar in terms of being over crowded but you'll still love it.

2. Why do folk feel the need to tell everyone to do something different to what they have planned. Everyone goes to Ibiza for different reason, doesnt mean they enjoy it any less whether it be getting drunk in the westend for a week or doing every club night possible! As long as they enjoy themselves then thats all that matters.

My advice, go on you're holiday and see what happens. Stuff rarely goes exactly to plan on holiday anyway as you meet new people and mix in doing different things. But as long as you enjoy it who cares if you miss stuff? Thats half the fun as you can then experience something new the next year when you go back (and you will go back the next year)

Enjoy your holiday :D

Have to agree with what has just been said you will also find that there is a lot of discount vouchers and wrist bands for most of the clubs don't go spending money on something you are unsure about if you do try something new try it for free that way if you don't like it you haven't lost out. You'll have a great time the 1st time I went I didn't really no much about what music I liked but I love it now and keep going back
