Ibiza Town

Hey,

Heading back to Ibiza in a few weeks and was going to take a trip over to Ibiza Town from San AN...never been there before so was hoping fpr some advice of where to Go Taking my other half so was thinking of a decent restaurant and some nice cool bars...(more house music, deeper stuff). We are going get there about 5 and spend whole night with a club after :)

any tips would be cool!

The Capital city, Ibiza Town, is a busy working port with the normal shops and business associated with an "all year round” city. For many people the attraction of Ibiza Town is at night, in fact, most of the bars and restaurants only open at night time. Lots of stylish boutiques near the harbour - some very expensive. This area has some excellent restaurants mostly outdoors and only open at night. Some like El Faro are expensive but very popular.

Essential - If visiting Ibiza Town, especially the old town (Dalt Vila) make sure your missus wears shoes that she can walk in as some of the streets of the old town are cobbled, slippy and steep.

If you do decide to see Ibiza at night, to enjoy the atmosphere and "characters" things start to happen from 11:00ish.

Once there, to enjoy Ibiza Town you really need to walk around.

Start from the corner opposite Vara de Rey at the Bar "Mar Y Sol" (decent bar & reasonable prices its open virtually 24hrs a day ). This is also a very popular people-watching spot. From there head past the boutiques toward the port. There are many bars and restaurants around this area however starting from "Zoo" bar they tend to be more “clubby & trendy” and are somewhat expensive.

Also why not head up towards the old town and as long as you are broad minded the Calle Virgen is worth a walk down, its the "gay street". Also has some very exclusive & interesting boutiques.

it's years since i was up there, so has sausalito returned, because it closed down years ago?

Stephen - I thought it had - but just in case I've edited my original message to another restaurant - hope that one is still there and in business
 
Excellent advice above.

Personally an almost perfect night for us would be to get to the top of the old town by cab around 10pm and enjoy the views. Then simply head downhill towards the port. The walk will take you through narrow streets with really old properties that create an ethereal atmosphere. It's a remarkable feeling walking down the streets with barely a sound to be heard. Eventually after thinking you are lost you will stumble into the start of the nightlife, lots of lovely places to eat. We have been able to get a table without booking but if you definitely want a particular restaurant, best to book in advance. Then continue your walk downwards and take up the route advised above.

Plaza del parque has to be one of the most chilled places on earth, not to be missed.


Whatever you decide, I would be amazed if you don't fall in love with Ibiza Town.
 
Can thoroughly recommend restaurants Can D'en Parra and La Torreta in the D'alt Villa.
