IBIZA SOLO!

BIG SON

Active Member
Want to hear from people who's done Ibiza on their own before, seriously considering coming over for 3 nights mid September. Been 14 times, but always in a group of at least 3 people, but for different reasons there is nobody going this year and the thought of not going is doing my head in.

cheers in advance

Billy no-mates here does it solo (almost) all the time! The lack of company is made up of total freedom to do what you like when you like. I'll admit to being at the older end of the age spectrum where I like nothing better than to be left alone with a bottle, waves and some tunes; but for solo youngsters I imagine if you are looking for someone to chat and drink with then Ibiza's the place. My tip would be to hang around an English/Irish/Scots bar, grab a game of pool or something with a stranger and off you go. But different people different methods.

Wonder about the solo experiences of other messageboarders?

Yeah just do it, been tonnes of times on my own and that's the norm for me now. Being shot of the baggage of group decisions, fallings out, couples' quarrels and the like which so often come with a holiday with more than one very trusted 'other' more than makes up for the extra effort you need to put in to be sociable if you want to. Admittedly I know a few people on the island and it's really nice to hook up with them when I go over so not often stepping completely into new territory like in earlier years. But sometimes everyone is working flat out and that's when I go entirely my own way.

Use the message board on here to hook up with one or two people initially if it helps, things will usually just snowball from there - and it's easy to get chatting to people in the daytime on the beaches, at the pool or in the bar etc. just relax and be open if you want to meet up with people on holiday. If you find even one person you get on with you'll then very likely meet up with more and more especially over a few drinks. Just be reassured it's not in any way abnormal to go to Ibiza on your own. There are loads of reasons why group holidays fail to happen and the older you get the more unusual it is to actually have the chance to travel with your mates as responsibilities inevitably spiral.

thanks for the replies, i'm 36 so no youngster. i'm off for a week in Sept, but think a week would be too long going solo, so thinking wed-sat. flight & azuline pacific working out reasonable enough at approx. £370. have basically planned the whole trip out already if i do decide to book. would defo be doing formentera as have never been before, is it best to get the boat from san antonio or get the bus into ibiza town & go from there? Ibiza is the only place i would even consider going to on my own

Its no so much the age that keeps you from traveling with old friends, but marriage and kids :) lol

Hell. Kids, will keep you from TRAVELING AT ALL!

Good move - 4 full days with am flight out and night flight home is perfect. Re Formentera, bus to Ibiza town and fast ferry ;)

Hey am 39 and am planning 10 days in Ibiza in September. Am going to concentrate on exploring some of Ibiza in my time away from not partying. Can understand why you want to explore Formentera, just think they'll be enough in Ibiza for me to do/explore. Went when I was 18 and never left San An and never made a decent club, spent too much in the first week (all too familiar story I guess) the joys of the internet mean I can book decent club nights from the comfort of my own home. Think you can be an 18 year old and act like a 40 year old and can be nearly 40 and act like your enjoying the moment. Wonder what's changed more in those 20 years, me or the island :)

Hi

I'm solo in Ibiza at the moment. 4th time solo since split from my ex.

Met 2 french guys last night in SA they were shocked when they heard I said I'm solo for 2 weeks!

Seriously being solo is great! No rules! Do whatever you want!

Geocaching is great way to explore the island properly!
