Ibiza, June 9th 2014 (Toga Media).-Ibiza Roots Festival, arrives next Wednesday June 11th to Las Dalias, with live performances including Calima as headliner. Ibiza Roots Sessions is the opening party of a fascinating and diverse program of World Music throughout the whole summer in Ibiza.
Since they burst onto the scene in 2007, Calima have gone on to secure their place as one of Spain’s hottest and most talented bands. Expertly covering a range of styles including flamenco, jazz, rumba, hip-hop and bossa, their debut álbum “Azul” gained widespread acclaim and indeed an enviable nomination for “Best Flamenco Album” in 2007’s Latin Grammy Awards.
Calima was founded by Juanlu Leprevost, who also composes, produces and plays bass for the band. Jualnlu’s credits also include founding and producing the first albums of the highly regarded Ojos de Brujo.
Throughout the years, many renowned artists such as Bebe, Macaco, La Shica o la Mari from Chambao have collaborated and recorded with Calima.
On Wednesday June 11th they will be performing live in Las Dalias at the Ibiza Roots Sessions, presenting their new álbum ‘Lumbre’, in what will be a fresh, spontaneous and innovative show, sharing their unique style combining only the best elements of Mediterranean air, land, sea, and happiness.
Starting at 8 pm and finishing at 6 am, Ibiza Roots brings to Dalias a festival format and the World Music concept, including the cumbia band Flordhiguera, DJs Al Varo and Dj Trabubu, Visual arts by Julieta Galera and theatre, performances, a spectacular scenography and more surprises.

The first edition of Ibiza Roots Festival 2013, was a total success and completely sold out, receiving an excellent response from the local and international media and the enthusiastic audience.
This season, Ibiza Roots reinforces the cultural program in Ibiza, and reaches every corner of the island with different styles, starting with Ibiza Roots Sessions at las Las Dalias, as their first date for this summer.
Ibiza Roots organizes events that adapt to different styles ranging from artistic displays in Can Ventosa Theatre and concerts in Las Dalias to the production of a mega festival with some of the most talented professionals in the international music scene such as Calle 13, the headliner for the first festival date for this summer’s edition on July 15th at el Recinto Ferial de Ibiza. The aim is to reinforce the island as a new platform of live music and a top destination within the international calender of World Music Artists.

More than eight years on the road, self published three albums, two demos, a spectacular musical and about 500 concerts. They are also popular in France, Germany, UK, Ireland, Hungary, Greece, Egypt or Switzerland. They have shared the stage with artists such as Chambao, Ojos de Brujo, Los Dellincuentes, Macoca... and internationals as Ben Harper, Manu Chao, Asian Dub Foundation and Status Quo.
One of the craziest and energetic stage performances. Kitchen lovers, as good Hungarians define his style: "Mix the popular background music of violinist and bassist with rock and alternative style from the rest of the band; pour the mixture into a large pot and season with punk, ska, gypsy elements and balkan beats. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat for two hours to get the authentic Hungarian taste. A hot and spicy dish, like Betyards Bohemian".
From the lower Pitiusa, influenced by rock, ska, reggae, funk and blues; a fun sound which they have been inspired by other ska and Latino rock groups- They are the revival of the musical outlook of Formentera, with over 50 concerts per season and its first demo of releases that have presented themselves in Madrid, Mallorca, Basque Country and Germany.
And also, performances of artistic collectives from Diagonal, Clownidoscopio Ibiza, ARTarte and more music, by DJ Al Varo (Radio Babylonia World Music) andDJ Eli Rojas (Pacific City).

The set designer and sculptor Alejandra Flores Flavia Allende, has signed work for Walt Disney, Buena Vista Columbia, Sony Picture Entertainment, Adidas, Coca Cola, Nokia and Camel, among many others, and now leads a team of professionals to transform this space into a creative atmosphere generated with recycled material, strengthening the multicultural integration, expansion of cultural centers and art events as well as the respect of the local ecosystem.

Gadjo (Global Gypsy Collective, Barcelona)
They come from Gadjistan and chose Barcelona as the place where they would open their suitcases and air their instruments. Seven musicians bound by their Gadjistani culture, a rich and festive culture with captivating rhythms and funny dances, energetic, theatrical melodies and a mish-mash of languages. Gadjo have toured extensively through Europe, enhancing their musical mayhem as they go, from gypsy-cumbia, balkanic-ska to reggae-swing and surf tango. Sometimes they can appear playing an intimate acoustic set in the market square or under the lights of a festival stage, but wherever they are, expect the dust to fly as the music kidnaps your heart and lifts your feet into an unstoppable dance.
El Rostro de la Medusa (Electro-World, Ibiza)
El Rostro de la Medusa was born in Andorra in 2006 as an experimental project which combined electronic music with analogical and traditional instruments. In that same year, the band moved to Ibiza where they recorded their first album 'Balafia'.
Their music is the common work of artists with different training and interests. They have been experimenting with diverse genres and have succeeded in creating their own powerful style of psychedelic elements.
Papson Sylla (Afro Dance, Ivory Coast)
As a child he was nicknamed the "father of sound" as he ran daily in search for the sound of his djembe. Today, dancer and choreographer Papson Sylla is a teacher in Paris and the Centre Momboye et Brillantine Smoking Center, in which he has his own company, Compagnie Papson that combines traditional African contemporary language gestures, accompanied by important live songs of the griots and drummer. His style is precise and delicate, in a unique fusion of different traditional African dances.
Wontanara (Afro-Percussion, Ibiza)
Led by Johnny Trama, a percussionist who lives in Ibiza, Wontara is the core group of African percussion and African rhythms that includes dance as another method of expression.

Ibiza, September 14th 2014 (Toga Media).- Following the success of Ibiza Roots Festival’s last editions this summer with Calle 13 and Alpha Blondy as headlines, Ibiza Roots Festival announces a new and very special date to their September Calendar. Chambao, with one of the world’s most emblematic female flamenco singers of the last decade who has set a musical trend worldwide with her unique style and voice presents her greatest hits on her 10 year around the world tour anniversary in one of the most enchanted spots of the island within the historic walls of Dalt Vila.
It is ten years since the band made their breakthrough with what came to be known as Flamenco Chill, a decade during which the group from Málaga has developed a unique music which has gone beyond frontiers of age, gender and nationality, achieving great international recognition. Chambao celebrates their 10th anniversary featuring brand new versions of their most iconic songs, which are pervaded by the electronic and the world’s music most luxurious sounds.
Lead Singer Lamari along with her band: Toni Romero (keyboards); Tony Cantero (guitar); Roberto Cantero (sax, soprano, tenor, flute) and Juan Heredia (drums), will be the hosting band at the Baluarte de Santa Lucía of Dalt Vila next Saturday September 20th.
The Festival starts at 8pm and also includes the acts of SUPER CUMBIA y La Liga de la Alegría from Formentera, one of the most prominent musical projects of the last years that combines reggae, murga uruguaya, ragamuffin and hip hop, among other styles. There will also be theatre circus performances by DIAGONAL IBIZA and CLOWNIDOSCOPIO and music and sacred Dance performances by HYAT featuring Romana Alarcon (opera singer), Illo Muriel (Zeal) and Marta Chandra (Sufi Dance). Hyat is the representation of a show that combines dance, music and songs with a deep poetic sense, embodied in Sufi and tribal dance choreography.
