IBIZA ROCKS with The Wombats + Brother (June 8th)

Around 200 staff of Civil Protection, Ibanat, local firemen and environmental workers that worked to extinguish the recent forest fire that affected the north of the island were invited as guests of honour at the second Ibiza Rocks concert of the season. A nice initiative that deserves to be emphasized!

The self described grit-pop band Brother, one of 2011's most talked about new UK bands, presented their soon-to-be-released debut album Famous first words with songs like the first single "Darling buds of may", "Still here" or my favourite "New year's day". They haven't invented anything new and only time will tell if they can fill the gap left by Oasis, as some people have mentioned, but their songs are fun and catchy with plenty of sing-a-long moments and I reckon fans of 90's brit-pop will love them!

Three years after their show in the San Rafael hippodrome, The Wombats were back in Ibiza. The 70-minute show of the trio consisted of songs from both albums, with a good mix of old and new stuff, played with the usual energy that you would expect from them. Such a spectacle to see the bassist jumping non-stop and spining like a tornado... impressive!

Must say it was a nice gesture by Ibiza Rocks to invite all the people involved in fighting the fire.

Judging by the photos, this gig looks considerably quieter than the opening party - especially considering they had 200 guests

Was this the case?

& if so, why do people think this was?

Did the headline act not pull as much as they'd hoped, or is it merely a case of the number of revellers on the island decreasing in the gap between openings & the main season proper?

I would have thought possibly the former. I dunno, do people really get excited by bands like The Wombats?
