After seeing Kele and the superb Delphic live last week, it was time for the penultimate date of the season with Pendulum and Sub Focus who landed in Ibiza after closing Mallorca Rocks in style. For some reason there was more locals than usual to catch the double dose of drum'n'bass, which was a nice surprise!
The producer Sub Focus (Nick Douwma to his mum) was first on stage and, accompanied by MC I.D and with some incredible light effects, right from the beginning with "Rock it" he had everybody dancing non stop. By the way, you can catch Sub Focus again (along with the fabulous Chase & Status) in a few hours at Reclaim the dancefloor, which closes another successful season at Eden tonight!
After their two previous visits to Ibiza Rocks with the full live show (plus a long list of dj sets in different venues across the island) we know by now what to expect from Pendulum: a 5hit-hot live show and loud, very loud music... and that's exactly what we got. The aussies returned to Ibiza for their last gig of the summer and based half of the concert on their new album Immersion, although old faves like "Propane nightmare" got the the biggest moshpits and the most euphoric reactions from the crowd. What a concert!
Next week we'll be crossing the doors of the Ibiza Rocks Hotel for the last time this year. For such a special occasion the guests will be the legendary The Specials supported by my beloved The King Blues (the band I enjoyed the most last year at Ibiza Rocks)... gonna be crazy amounts of fun!
Favourite moment of the night: "Blood sugar" during which they asked the crowd to get down and then jump all together (as The Prodigy did some weeks ago)!
