IBIZA ROCKS with Magnetic Man + Katy B (August 31st)

Heading to San Antonio town once again, via the Ibiza Rocks House for a quick beer, for the debut of Katy B and Magnetic Man at Ibiza Rocks (although Katy B already played at last year's Radio 1 free event at the hotel)!

I have to say I was very impressed by Katy B, not only because of her amazing voice and stage presence but also because of how good her songs sounded live... the fact she was accompanied by a proper band (including a brass section) gave it less of a dubstep feel. The redhead started with the b-side "Louder" and continued with various songs from her debut album including the hit single "Lights on", with which she finished and left everybody in the place gagging for more. Special mention also to "Katy on a mission" with The Streets' "Blinded by the lights" mixed into it and the medley of 90's dance classics!

Dubstep's first supergroup Magnetic Man, thanks to which the genre has finally reached the mainstream, were next. Skream, Benga and Artwork, with their three Apple Macbook Pro computers and accompanied by the dreadlocked MC Sgt Pokes, put up a great show. They played most songs from their self-titled debut album and, as expected, Katy B returned to join the dubstep dons for "Crossover" and "Perfect stranger" which was the last song of the night before everybody wished Benga a happy birthday!
