Florence and the Machine last week was one of the best gigs of the season and the most fun I had taking pictures at Ibiza Rocks (it took me ages to decide which ones to post as I liked them all). Kele and Delphic were the bands for this week plus Annie Mac, who was supposed to appear after the last band to close the night, but she was sick and couldn't make it!
Ewan Pearson (We Love/Manumission), who produced the album "Acolyte" by Delphic, was added to the bill yesterday and warmed up the crowd before the first band came out!
One after another without pauses between the songs, Delphic played most songs from their brilliant debut album. Everybody I spoke with afterwards said it was the best support act they had this year (Detroit Social Club are still on top of my list though). Great album and great live band as well... just a matter of time till we see them headlining Ibiza Rocks!
For the second time ever, Doorly left his little dj booth platform to deejay in the main stage. Jon McClure from Reverend and the Makers, who was appearing at the Ibiza Rocks after show later, joined him for a bit!
While the future of Bloc Party is still unclear, Kele Okereke came to present his first solo album released two months ago. Apart from his more electronic oriented new songs, he also included songs from the band that made him famous (the "Blue light/The prayer/One more chance" medley and "Flux")!
Doorly continued on the stage another half an hour and most people stayed till the very last minute of his final set... Oh by the way, I spotted Brett Anderson from Suede in the VIP. Drum'n'bass madness next week with Pendulum and Sub Focus... not for the weak of heart!
Favourite moment of the night: the 45 minutes during which Delphic graced the stage... sooo good!
