This week we had the return of three Ibiza Rocks favourites: Friendly Fires and Metronomy (both fresh from their shows at Glastonbury last weekend) plus Kissy Sell Out... you can't go wrong with a line-up like that!
Metronomy flew to the Balearics with their chest bulbs and synth pop, and based their repertoire on their last two albums almost forgetting the first (the one they were presenting three years ago)... a very good show from Joseph Mount and co!
In between the bands, Radio 1's Kissy Sell Out (who also dj'd at Ibiza Rocks Bar and Es Paradis later) came on the decks, waving his arms non-stop like he was been attacked by a swarm of killer bees... what a showman!
During the 70 minutes they were on stage, Friendly Fires played most songs from their recently released second album Pala and various from their self-titled debut. By the fourth song, "On board", Ed Macfarlane left the stage and sang it among the crowd. But the question on everyone's lips was what would happen when the band played "Jump in the pool"... contrary to last week, when a guy ventured into the pool at the end of Fatboy Slim's set, nobody jumped. The surprise came at the very end of the night, with the popular "Kiss of life" (for which they filmed a video-clip in Ibiza two years ago), when it was actually the singer who left the stage again and jumped in the pool, returning to the stage soaking wet. Special mention to the great drummer with his frenetic beats, who's the core of the band's sound!
A fun-packed night after which people headed to Ibiza Rocks Bar, Es Paradis or the-other-place-I-can't-remember the-name-of with the biggest smiling faces ever!
Favourite moment: Friendly Fires' opening song "Lovesick"
