Second busiest night of the season so far (after Tinie Tempah last week) with the amazing Chase & Status who, by the way, will be doing another live show on the island at a club... the question is though: if you had to choose between seeing live a band you like in an open air venue at 10/11pm and seeing it in a dark club at 3/4am, which one would you go to? Yep, exactly... it's great to have so many live music in various of the big clubs nowadays but why do they always have to start that late?! Anyway, this week's review...
Labrinth has collaborated with various artists we've seen on the Ibiza Rocks stage during the last weeks (Devlin, Professor Green and, most notably, Tinie Tempah) so it makes sense he was included in the line-up. Biggest moment came with his debut single "Let the sun shine"... apparently he covered Minnie Riperton's "Loving you" but I missed it!
Then we had another brilliant long set by Doorly, who this time even dj'd with his feet and nose (!), during which Annie Mac recorded some footage for Channel 4 in the middle of the crowd!
Dj and production duo Saul Milton and Will Kennard, accompanied live by MC Rage and drummer Andy Gangadeen (Massive Attack/Faithless/etc), were just immense from the beginning (with the tribal "No problem") to the end (with the energetic "Fool yourself"). They brought as special guests Delilah (for "Time" and Nneka's "Heartbeat") and Liam Bailey (for "Blind faith"). Like when they played at the hotel last year, biggest mosh pits of the season... absolutely mental!
Another concert to add to the list of faves of 2011 (along with Plan B, The Vaccines and Biffy Clyro)... unbelievable how half of the season has passed already and there's only another seven dates left!
Favourite moment: C&S' "Blind faith"... I love this song since I first heard it and I can't get it out of my mind since then. Having the chance to hear it live with the singer who originally sang it on the album, the place going off with everybody singing along... one of those moments when words can't describe how good it was!
