Ibiza Parador On Course

When did the construction of the Parador actually start?

My first time in Ibiza was 2004, and there were already construction cranes on top of Dalt Vila, and I am pretty sure there was a billboard mentioning the upcoming Parador next to the construction site. I also think it was planned for opening the next year :)

I think I will miss the cranes when the Parador finally opens - I never saw the old town without them! Or are they a part of the UNESCO World Heritage site now? :D

Not looking forward to the Parador opening though - I love the quiet atmosphere on the top of Dalt Vila, which will be gone when the hotel opens. I hope the bastions will remain accessible to the public and not converted into the hotel's breakfast terrace.
