will - ibiza
New Member
Decided to do the openings with me finishing uni. Went with 4 friends and met others who were already out there in ibiza. This is how it planned out. Flew from Manchester on Saturday morning at 06.25 and arrived in ibiza at around 10. Stayed in the 'blue feeling ibiza' apartments in san an which to be honest were the best ive stayed in during the 4 times ive been to ibiza...
Anyway ill write as much as i can remember. This was my first time doing the openings so i was expecting good things. A few of my mates had done them before and said they are wild
Saturday - (ushuaia)
As stated about we arrived at the hotel at around 11am and later found out that we couldnt check in till till 2 which was a problem as we had the ushuaia early tickets which stated that we had to be there before 3pm. (due to the immense lineup). Anyway we asked if we could check in early but it wasnt possible. Luckily we already had some friends in the same hotel so we get ready there. They already had gear and drinks so that made it a lot easier. We left the hotel around 2pm, already pretty drunk and feeling good off a few keys of K. San an was dead which was a lot different to what I was used to. Although this may change the general atmosphere it made it a lot easier to get a taxi. We arrived at ushuaia just before 3, a group of about 20 of us hoping to walk straight is as we had the early tickets. I couldnt be more wrong. We arrived to a massive queue which went back to the main road and was ridiculously wide. It took us a good hour to get in, in which time we had pretty much sobered up. It wasnt too busy inside so i dont know what the queue was about. We all went to the bar and bought a single vodka lemonade which were pretty strong and soon brought us to a better level. We had bought some garrys (transformers), ket and some GHB so we were set for the night. We spent the most of the night behind the main swimming pool which was a change as we ususually stand on the front platform. It was more of a chilled atmosphere which was nice. Music wise we arrived when Uner was playing and by the time we had settled with our spot MJC was about to play. I really like her music and how unique her sound is, fair to say she smashed it. Joris voorn was also decent although it was more chilled out compared to what ive heard him play. I was waiting for the heavy hitters (dice, luciano, pappa sven) but got too much in a pickle to remember dice and luciano. Although I do remember the huge glowing things that were released into the air. I called it a day about an hour into Vaths set as we were all ****ed and had about an hours sleep due to flying early morning. The event was way too busy also, it took us about 20 mins to actually get out of the venue
Sunday (bora bora / Space)
This was easily the highlight day of the holiday (Although I was in a K hole for about an hour). We got up around 12 and had a breakfast at mambos which was suprisingly cheap. We bought our supplies (MDMA, K, GBH) and vodka and made our way to bora around 3 ish. We arrived and stood in the bar around for a while, although this was cramped as there was so many of us. One of my mates offered a polish lad 40 euros to share a bed he had bought as there was only 2 of them. Luckily he agreed and we even threw in a few keys for his generosity. This made it much more spacious as we had space to dance and a table for our drinks. We stayed there for a few hours and got kezzled which is when the hole incident came. There was about 40 of us which made it even better as we kinda had our own area. We had already bought tickets for space so we left bora around 7ish and headed to space. (feeling like **** as i had just come out of a hole) i had already bought a space ticket and didnt want to waste it. The lineup wasnt brilliant but I wanted to experience the car park. WOW is all i can say, the car park is hugeee and the sound system was awesome. Wasnt too busy towards the rear of the car park which was good as we had space to dance. Sasha and Nic finialti were playing some dark stuff which was made even better by some class MDMA. This was really the highlight day of the holiday. the only downfall was that once the carpark closed we made our way inside for only as the amount of people and heat was unbearable. We left around 3am. (wanted to be relatively fresh for dc10 as that it my favourite place, nothing even comes close to my love for that place haha)
Monday (DC10)
Woke up around 12 ish feeling pretty fresh, we went for some food and soon realised the awful weather. No sun and black clouds, felt like crying. After watching the Kerri Chandler videos on youtube from last years opening I was buzzing for it!!. I just hoped that the rain held out. We arrived at dc10 around 4 via illegal taxi. When we got in it was suprisingly dead inside the terrace and main room with the outside area quite busy. (everyone waiting for Kerri). They had removed the covering outside and put some decking down which is a difference to the usual gravel. Kerri smashed the place to bits from what I remember. Although it soon started raining pretty heavy which forced everyone inside. The new sound system in the terrace is rib shattering. I seriously have never heard bass like it in all my time clubbing. It goes perfect with the super reactive crowd that dc10 attracts. The terrace of dc10 is easily the best part of ibiza and probably the best room of any club. Although from the opening night, this is the only positive I can actually point out, as it got later and due to the rain, the club got out of hand. I know its the opening night and all that but the amount of people in the main room around 1/2am when dubfire was playing was the worst experience of my life. I have never been in a club so busy in all my life. A serious hazard, they had over sold the club by at least 1000. You physically couldn't move. At some points I was actually pushing people out of the way. To top this off the heat was unbearable. I was sweating buckets and easily broke my sweat record for a night. The last few hours really took the edge off the night. Although I love the place, something needs to be done about that. Thats not what dc10 is famous for. Also the amount of pick pockets is a joke, a few friends had cameras/phones stolen. We left around 4am as it was unbearable, went back to the room to party till around 9am when we called it a day.
Overall it was a good experience, probably my best yet, the only downfall was the sheer amount of people inside the clubs at some stages. Id give anything to be back and now im home ive got the blues and depression. I would like to experience the closings maybe this year or next. Not dc10 but maybe sankeys/cocoon/enter.
On the up side ive got hideout in 4 weeks which im buzzing for.
Anyway hope you enjoyed the review. Comments are welcome.
Thanks
