IBIZA on repeat

How can I even begin to write about my times on the white isle??

I can’t possibly do it justice, but at the same time, after reading review after review on here I wanna give it a go (can this be done in a lunch hr??)

From my first visit in 2002 as a young pup of 18 years old, spending 10 nights all on the west end, yes you heard that right J, to my most recent visit in September 2013 as a house nut.

I have seen a lot of things on the island, and experienced a fair bit too:
I’ve been in the DC10 ambulance, missed a plane (accidentally on purpose) , found love, lost love, was once spied on by my girlfriend at the time (didn’t even know she was in Ibiza) lost money, lost belts, broken an expensive watch, I even lost a converse trainer at cocoon once, I remember not daring to throw away the one I had on, as I was that spangled that I thought the other one was going to be in the hotel room, as I may have forgot to put it on earlier that night…

There is gonna be a random order to my review, cus im condensing years of visits in 1 review.

I ain’t even going to include my first trip as I went with the wrong people, and as mentioned spent 10 nights in Irish bars and other brit abroad boozers, so Ibiza 2002: did it all WRONG.

3 YEARS LATER DID IT RIGHT…
A group of lads were trying to find a place to eclipse the previous years trip to Zante (that won’t be hard J) Ibiza kept getting mentioned, and to be honest as the only one in the group who had been before and not enjoyed it, I didn’t want to go, thankfully I was over ruled and have never looked back, so here goes, snippets of every year since 05:

From arriving in June 2005 it was like an instant connection, why had 2002 been so bad?? We did Pacha , El Divino, Es Paradise, Eden amongst others, at this stage we was all younger and on a bit of a budget so did as much as we could club wise.

As the years have gone on, I feel like our choice of clubs have improved.
7 nights this year we will go hard every night and visit these (some twice): SPACE , DC10, ZOO, AMNESIA, SANKEYS, and whatever else crops up, gonna try and find something new this year as well (open to recommendations / tips)

Didn’t do space the first year, wish I could again experience the feeling I got when walking in them doors in 2006….. the club was in full swing, we got in pretty late, oh my days I can’t even put it into words, I always remember me and one of my close friends been with 2 very nice looking girls and we were that gripped by Space, and the music, we were contemplating fackin them off and getting even more blasted, but we decided to stick with them, vowing to go back to space before the holiday ended.

Milk n 2 sugars in 2005 was a standout night at el divino (what a club I miss that place)

Zoo project always good, enjoy the whole day, start early with a nice breakfast and a few drinks, we are normally first in, unfashionably early J don’t care J just get in the pit and get MESSY.

Genuinely love everything about being in Ibiza, love getting ready to go out, with the beats on full whack, having a drink on the balcony, maybe a smoke, (but not staying there all night, like these lads who were our neighbours one year, lovely group of lads but should have just gone to Benidorm if the plan was to be welded to the balcony all weekend)

I’d recommend staying in San An or PDB.
If your only plan is clubs, maybe stay PDB but personally I don’t mind getting taxis to clubs so have nearly always stopped in San An, as we do like a few in Mambo, Savannahs.

Bora Bora disco had a big dip in 2008 -2010 but I think its picked up now and last year was wicked!

The music gets better every year (in the clubs, DC10 in particular is just unreal constant beats)

Stay at JET apartments at least once, a must. Always enjoy this most over a weekend in September.

There was a lot of Joey Essex look-alikes last year.

Is there a better natural feeling than landing in Ibiza??

The old Club Paraiso = better than Ibiza rocks, not even a contest.

Being with the right people is KEY, I learnt this from 2002. If you are passionate about house music (I refuse to call it EDM) then come with likeminded people. If asked , this would be my main advice to any Ibiza virgin, even if it meant missing a year, cus once you get the blend right of: good friends + music, its magical.

I have been to Berlin, Miami, Croatia to various house events, parties, the WMC in Miami was brilliant, the Berlin house scene is passionate, IBIZA IS STILL THE BEST IN MY OPINION.

Writing this makes me want this summer to hurry up!

More to follow. . . . .
