we are thinking of going to Ibiza for a day. Landing 9.35 and leaving 01.55 the next day - easyjet in May.

Too cold for the beach. old town is a first but what next?

I've been going early May for years and apart from the odd rainy days, there have been plenty of blue skies and temps in mid 20's.

I would head for the port and enjoy a leisurely coffee then head out to Sta.Gertrudis for a long lunch. I would then hopefully spend an hour or so on a beach then a wander around Sta Eulalia before choosing from the dozens of restaurants for dinner.

A very chill out day.

red face

I agree with Grego, I have spent a lovely weekend on the beach in Ibiza,i t was at least 23 degrees ..I have a red face and numerous pink bits on show.:D

I really don't know what is in Santa Eularia that is worth looking at? It's a nice place and all that but it seems a waste for somebody in Ibiza for just one day when there is so much natural scenery on the island to look at.
Any of the beaches are nice to go and look at. Head out to Cala d'Hort if you want to see Es Vedra. There is a pirate tower just before Cala d'Hort that has a good view of Es Vedra. have something to eat down in Cala d'Hort or get back on the road and head in the Cala Vadella direction and you will see signs for the restaurant Es Boldado that has views of Cala d'Hort and Es Vedra. Later on you could carry on up to Cala Conta to see the islands and turquoise water. Just head for San José and then San Antonio. Look for a sign pointing left to Platges de Comte, which is the local spelling of Cala Conta. A couple of nice restaurants there overlooking the sea.
In the evening just go out and get plastered somewhere.

Horses for courses Warren - one of the best churches with fabulous views, a great marina better than Ibiza in my opinion, more choice of restaurants, a hub for buses and ferries and of course the only river in Ibiza.

May - I have spent many days on the beach in the hot sun, the only negative is that the weather's unpredictable and the sea temps are only around 18-19c, brrr, too cold for this big softie!

Anyway, this is what I'd do,
Land at the airport and have a snack in the bar. Then a taxi (if the queue's not too long, could be quicker on the bus!!) to Ses Salines/Es Cavalet on the south of the island, choosing which beach based on wind direction.
Sunbathe (hopefully!) for a few hours and then have early dinner at either of the two restaurants by the bus terminal, and then get the last bus back into Ibiza town for a few beers before heading back tot he airport.

If it's poor weather, then I'd simply head to Ibiza town, catch the ferry to Talamanca and back and try to keep busy!
