Totally different, SA is a little town, you can chill and relax, but you also have a lot of choice of bars, restaurants, etc...
Portinatx is a little family resort, very quiet, with some incredible beaches and surrounded by nature.
But the offer is really limited.
I would choose Portinatx if I rent a car, SA without...

I personally felt 1000x more relaxed in PTX than in SA, but obv a very different beast

You have a few very nice hotels over there if money isnt an object. Pikes, Hostal La Torre, Palmyra all spring to mind. All very different.
