Ok myself and a mate are heading to Ibiza from 27 June to 4 July. We have never been there before and so any tips would be much appreciated. If there is another thread with this info then a link would be great.

Mainly we are interested in get some quality clubbing in while we are there. We are on a mission to have a real lads holiday.

I hear that its best to stay in San Antonio. Is this right? Also we want to get some good quality self catering accommodation (i.e. with things like air con, nice pool etc) but we don't want to end up in some place that is more suited to families - i.e. we'd like to stay where we could meet other like minded people. Can anyone give any recommendations?

Any tips you might have wold be much appreciated 8)

Hi Donny and welcome to spotlight.

The problem is mate this question gets asked by an awful lot of people who join the board and there are so many threads answering the same question over and over again.

We're all here to help but I remember answering two threads yesterday asking the same thing. There's tons of info here mate if you do a little digging.

Cheers but I was hoping more for people's experiences from this board
This is exactly what you'll find using the wonderful "search" function ;)

Also, don't forget to browse the other sections of the forum (Ibiza Open Chat, Your Ibiza Holiday Experiences, Things to Do) as threads that might address topics of interest to you will be interspersed with fewer of the random threads you'll find in Clubbing Open Chat.

especially peoples reviews...

sorry for being curt above, but it really is the best advice i can offer. nobody is going to post enough in your thread to give you the answers you are looking for.

Firstly what do you want from this holiday? What are you in to??

A lads holiday based mainly on some top class clubbing. A couple of nights may be spent taking it easy in a few bars but mainly clubbing. Also I don't mind spending a bit more and getting decent accomm

My main concern is that I don't end up in some apartment block that is geared towards families and are tough on noise etc.

Also I don't want to restrict myself to the self catering apartments advertised on this site

But I guess I'll just do some digging on this site

Cheers guys

how old are you? What clubs do you want to go to?
I would not stay in San Antonio.. before I first went to Ibiza, I was told to avoid it like the plague and stay in Playa d'en Bossa instead and was so glad I did.. There are plenty of reasonably priced self catering apartments in Playa d'en bossa that are for the young clubbing crowd.

some people like San Antonio.. give us mroe of an idea of what you want!:)

as a general rule of thumb the only people i've heard moaning about san an are sophisticated young clubbers. most other people think it's a great place for a holiday. i like it for what it is - an unpretencious mediterranean resort with activities by day and night for all age groups. (and i quite like a night way out west too - i like my ale and i like people watching)

The only thing that puts me off San An is the fact that when you want to have a break / rest you cant because there's usually some idiots running around the hotel making a load of noise but other than that its okay. Oh and the fact that some joker thought it would be funny to pinch my beach towel last year also . You do get a lot of immature prats in San An :spank:

well despite me constantly slagging it off after previous holidays, yet again im going back. i've not stayed in PDB yet, so no comparison. If you're looking for the action at Space, DC10 and Pacha etc. it is a wee bit out the way, and theres a beer boy mentality. But the majority of people are just having a laugh, the spirits always good.

Why not split your holiday between camps? You could try a week in either to see what you preferred.

We are 2 lads in our late twenties. I think we'll stay in San An so that we are close to the clubs (I'm not sure how easy it is to get a taxi). As its my first time I'll try out all the big clubs to see what they are like. My taste in music is house/trance/techno. For example the one DJ I'm hanging to see in Ibiza is Carl Cox (even though I've seen him a ton of times before I have never had an average night at his gigs)

As this will probably be my only visit to Ibiza (I live in Australia so its not exactly on the doorstep) I'm not overly concerned with cost. I'd prefer somewhere a bit nicer to relax in after a big night out than save a few euros. The only reason I'm thinking self catering apartment is that I figure that it will be more fun friendly environment than a hotel.

There aren't many San An apartments listed on here though. Can anyone recommend some fairly nice apartments in the San An area?

Is Playa d'en Bossa close enough to the action?

OK, here's the deal with the major clubs:

Ibiza Town (southeast coast) - Pacha, El Divino, Penelope
Playa d'en Bossa (southeast coast) - Space, Bora Bora
San Rafael (middle of the island) - Amnesia, Privilege
San Antonio (west coast) - Es Paradis, Eden

So, you'll not necessarily be closer to the clubs living in San An. It will depend on which clubs you'll want to go to. There are house nights at all the clubs. Amnesia has some trance but so do the San An clubs. You'll find techno in Space, Amnesia and Privilege.

Carl Cox plays at Space.

I've stayed in San Antonio Bay, Talamanca (just outside Ibiza Town) and Playa d'en Bossa and the latter is my favorite. This is probably because, when I'm not hopping in the car to explore the island, I'll basically spend all afternoon sipping beer or sangria under an umbrella at Bora Bora, the beachfront bar/club where the tunes are playing all day long. The place starts going off mid-afternoon (people dancing by the bar, on the beach) and it gets you in a great mood to go back, change, maybe get some dinner and then hit the clubs. There's no place like that, that I'm aware of, in San An. Also, there's plenty of places around to eat and a handful of decent pre-party bars (though we usually head over to the Ibiza Town harbor area).

That said, there's nothing especially wrong with living in San Antonio. The hotel I stayed at the start of the bay (so only 20 minutes walk along the boardwalk to town) had a lot of familes as well as young people. I don't party in my room, though, so that was fine. There's a few nice pre-party bars along the bay and you're closer to the bars on the sunset strip, which you'll want to visit at least once.

Hey mate thanks for putiing the effort into writing that - much appreciated. You are definitely selling the idea of Playa d'en Bossa to me. It sounds good and seeing as I get in on the Tuesday (the night Cox plays) then its nice and close to Space. Is getting taxis to other parts of the island easy / expensive eg from Playa d'en Bossa to San An?

Playa d'en Bossa sounds like the go. Are there any apartments you’d recommend in Playa d'en Bossa?

I stayed in Aparthotel Garbi last year. They're pretty basic one-room studio aparments with tiny kitchenette but they're right on the beach and a good value.

The Jet complex has 3 different levels of apartments with various price ranges and they're right at Bora Bora and Space.

Check out this page: http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/hotel-guide/
and if you see one that looks good, then do a search on the forums to see if there are some reviews. There's also a hotel review section in the main site.

Donny,

You are in for a treat, and quite a long flight from oz! Anyway San Antonio is my favorite holiday destination I would advise a hotel on San Antonio Bay rather than in San An town centre, we have stayed at the Arenal the last few years but that may be a little to family orientated for you.

As far as clubbing goes make sure you have plenty of cash if your planning on the big mega clubs, get the tickets for the club you want to go to from a pre-bar as they will usually discount the prices the later you leave it on the night of the club you are going to. We were told numerous times that this wouldn’t happen for various reasons and this year they may have changed this but the best bet is to shop around the bars anyway.

Oh and you must do a sunset on the strip, my favorite is to grab a table at savannah early on have dinner and chill with drinks. The west end of San An can be a bit rowdy and has a lot of theme bars etc, not being elitist about it I’ve had a good few nights out there.
