Ibiza disappointment

So just arrived back from a week visit to Ibiza, which was my 15th visit.

Had some great times but my memory of this visit is the clubs been absolutely, too full.

Music on main room was full to the point of being stood unable to raise your hands , literally everyone there just nodding their heads.

Dc10 was worse still, stood on , barged into , drink knocked out of hands , the place was full of people who can only be described as lemmings.

Surely there has to be a point where the club stops letting people in?

Dc10 clearly had too many people inside it - even the toilet que was crazy.

I'll give amnesia another go but Dc10 can sling it, the best club in the island has become the worst.

Not sure what you expect on Radio 1 week/weekend. August is always crazy busy but that weekend in particular is just no fun. As a seasoned pro I thought you'd have known better ;)

Agree that was a school boy error mate. We did book back in January before radio 1 announced, have been At other times of the season before and DC10 in particular has always seemed too busy.

Don't mean to come across rude, but if you are going to Ibiza on the busiest week / weekend of the year, then you're going to experience this!

Aye id never go back in late July or August again. My favourite time has always been mid to late September although some closing parties can be silly busy as well.

Also i find the best thing to do with dc10 is turn up early and leave when it gets uncomfortable.

Yeah but I've been to dc10 in July and September and had similar issue - my point is you would think there would be something in place that means the club is at full capacity and no more people are let in

The OP still has a point though. Dangerous overcrowding in a club still carries massive risks.

Assume the clubs are issued with safety certificates of sorts and can be spot checked by the authorities on health and safety grounds at any point?

They should be able to tell you how many have come in (and out) at any one time and be keeping an eye on crushes or crowd pinch points.

I know we've gone a bit daft sometimes with regard to H&S in the UK but I've said before one of the overcrowded clubs is an accident waiting to happen should there be a blind panic and a quick exit is required.

Its wrong to say that i want that something bad happen - but this ultra disgusting greed for money let me puke blood. DC10 is Nr 1, but i also had seen totaly overpacked Space, Ushuaia and Amnesia. This year at DC10 opening the club was so packed - when i walked from the outdoor stage to the toilets i walked the whole way on other people feets without touching the ground one time! Its totally unacceptable to risk so many lives just because of the money. I don't want to know how many people die if a fire, a panic, breaking off.

For me it would be ok if they would raise the ticket price by 10%, but close the door when its full!

Absolutely cannot stand this - I'm gonna have to swerve Cox/Carola cos I know for a fact I won't be able to dance, which kind of defeats the purpose IMHO.

You're right, but it doesn't change the problem of the clubs wich are not respecting the maximum number of people they normally can have.
I hope not, but if one day there is a problem in a club, it will be horrible.

Good point about not being able to dance. In both rooms at dc10 each and every person stood , arms crammed by their sides, nodding their heads as too restricted to dance, this gives a place no character as everyone is dancing the same, so I agree this completely defeats the purpose of going to a place that plays amazing music.
So frustrating

I'm avoiding the carl cox closing because i know it will be busier than i'd like. there is a whole thread on this forum about overcrowding...it amazes me the police/authorities caee so much about what time the music is switched off but are ok with clubs being blatantly well over capacity. eventually, there will be an incident.

Completely agree. The Space Discoteca is a prime example of where overcrowding could go horribly wrong, especially in the midst of a party atmosphere like Elrow or the Carl Cox closing party.

I'm pretty good in crowds, I tend to just go with it and not worry too much about people right up close, but I felt genuinely uncomfortable for the first time on my trip this year and it was worrying how claustrophobic I got. If there had been a fight, or some kind of emergency requiring I get to the exit, there's plenty of times I could have been stuck in the heaving masses.

I doubt a lot of nights getting that busy meet H&S regs, and if they do, the number needs reducing significantly.

going in august and to the two most crowded parties on the island this really couldn't have surprised you?! august has always been far too busy and it was clear that this august would be the worst ever because of so many people coming to ibiza who would've normally gone to turkey, tunisia, egypt etc.

but yeah, I agree that there should be a strict control by the government of how many people are let inside a club. there is no harm in a club staying open till 9am, but too many people in a club is a serious danger. instead of controlling numbers the government is just controlling closing hours :/

I find Amnesia most terrifying when it's so over-crowded and people are trying to move from one place to another.

I was in Ibiza 22-29th July and Music on was perfect busy. Was easy too move around and plenty of room for dancing. Carl cox at Space was a joke though, you literally couldn't even move your arms. Gutted as that was the main night for me and I knew it would be busy but that night was a joke and when we left at about 3.30-3.45 the queue was even bigger than when we went in at around 1.00! Circo loco at DC-10 was a joke as well, ended up finding a decent spot after searching for a while but not long after it was back to being crushed.
