Ibiza Cameras and Phones

Hey all.. Bit of an odd one, but what do you generally do about taking photos on the island?

I have a pretty pricey phone (6 plus, 64gb) and although it will take some fantastic photos, I feel a little dubious about bringing it to Ibiza where it could easily get mugged, lost, or generally ruined or one the many wild nights out in foam and water etc.

Last year I brought a digital camera with me for photos and a cheap Nokia phone to keep in touch with the lads, but in 2015 it feels so out-dated to be plodding around the island whipping a digital camera out. It was bad enough last year.

I have insurance on my iPhone, maybe I should just man up and bring that and if gets lost it gets lost?

Thoughts?

That's almost an ipad-mini sized phone!

By all means take it but leave it in the room safe before you are due to go to a club if you are worried about losing it. As long as in a fairly sensible nick it should be fine to have it on you during the day or when you are out having a meal?

In the day isn't too much of an issue as we are all inclusive so I imagine most days will be spent lazing by the pool, it's more the club nights, when I wanna take photos of the likes of Amnesia etc, might just risk it tbh and take it along in my shorts or whatever provided they have button-fastened pockets

I have a Nikon D750 DSLR with 24-70mm lens, I assumed this would be ok to take in to the clubs with me? I'll just wheel it about in my carry on luggage for protection??!! ;)

failing that the trusted (insured) iphone will have to do....I have previous for damaging / losing this already, Ibiza or not o_O

Thanks David (Bailey)...:D

I much prefer to take photographs in my memory . Always end up having a better night not worrying about my phone or camera . You could call me a living selfie stick or better still a walking wan ker wand

Amnesia used to take your camera off you at the door and charge you to look after it.
Personally, anyone in a club with a camera round their neck is a prize twat. It's bad enough having mobiles constantly in the air by some in need of 300 pictures a night but to take a f***ing camera you must be quite a sad bastard
Sorry if this offends, nothing wrong with taking a few pics for a memoir but the amount of time some spend on their phone is taking the piss.
I've offered happily to take people's pics in clubs to I'm not totally against it, I'm not a misery either honest
I just find these days times to let go are precious and feel easier when not surrounded by cameras in my face

Got a big camera for during the day and driving about in the car. Have my iPhone on me all the time to use at other times. Used to take a small camera but get better pictures with an iPhone 6 and it is slimmer than most cameras.

Also take three different selfie sticks, one at 1m length, another at 2m and a really long one at 5m. With them and the iPhone I get some cracking pictures.

I normally like to take in a camera on a tripod too with a big cover to keep myself and the film in darkness. Other clubbers don't seem to mind as they dance around me. It gets even easier in the VIP area as no one is dancing anyway so I can take plenty of pictures without getting in the way.

Too funny!

Samsung s6 and I used it in the clubs. I made sure apparel has deep pockets with narrow openings; hard to loose phone or get pick pocketed. Few rules I follow:
Turn flash to off. People don't look great with, or happy when blinded with a flash.
Two videos at most. One at arrival and one leaving.
I also quick fire and forget pics so not to annoy people by taking ages getting group portraits lol.

At most I take about 20 pics in a full night before, after and including in the clubs.

I rather be in the moment and remember it that way. However I seem to remember stuff even when smashed.

For bonus points I take pics of everyone taking pics. Quite funny!

Dslr would proably get a visit from club security.

And lastly I have a usb/micro USB stick so can copy stuff off phone and leave in safe. (USB on the go feature)

What's the s6 like for pics? I've got a 6 edge but I've not been anywhere where I've wanted to take photos over here. Mainly as the other half takes her dslr of we go away on breaks or places where pics are to be taken. Obviously we won't be taking that to ibiza. So I'll probably use my phone over there. It's only going to be day photos etc when we're exploring.

My phone is turned off and left in the safe i take it out 2 days before the end of the holiday to get pics. It feels great :)

I found really good although mine has the Samsung sensor that is better at low light where as some have the Sony sensor which is better in bright conditions.

I would upload pics but it's limited to 1mb.

Also considering I set it to 6mp instead of 16mp the pics where impressive. Good if not better than my iPhone 4s . Optical image stabilisation really helps.
