Ibiza 8 years on

Hows it going,

Well I've just come back from a weeks hol over in Ibiza with my Wife and what can I say. I was 20 last time I was there and 8 years on I can hand on heart say it is still one of the most amazing places in the world I've ever been too.

Nothing can describe the feeling you get when your standing in Mambo or Cafe Del Mar watching the sun set into the ocean whilst drinking a cool beer or walking round the winding streets of Ibiza Town with people dressed as trees and mad people playing mental pan type thingys.

I've been checking this forum for a while now and was starting to get a bit worried when i've been reading reviews saying that ibiza had become a overprices, glossy, e-riddled blackpool with sun clone but it's not. Over the last 8 years I've been lucky enough to exprience such places as Dubai, Barbados, Saint Lucia, Prague, Amsterdam, Many of the Greek Island and most of Europe and no-where has the same chilled vibe that Ibiza has.

I won't be leaving it so long before I go back this time,
Cheers ibiza

Really good to hear that. This year will be my 10th in a row, but every time I book I can't help thinking it won't be as good as last year.

Reports like this are fantastic to read - glad you had a great time:D:D

Thats a great thing to hear. A lot of people seem to be moaning about the way Ibiza is now, and I've just booked my first holiday! But to hear its still a magical place to visit makes me feel better!! :)
Bring on August!
:D

If you're just going for clubbing then you may well be dissapointed, it has changed a hell of alot. Mainly no more daytime clubbing. And it can be hellishly expensive.

But for me Ibiza is much more than a clubbing destination. The clubbing side of things is still an important part of my holiday, and i still enjoy it, but Ibiza has sooooo much more to offer.

My tuppence worth anyways

Nah we're only planning on going to the clubs on a few nights. Probably abour 2/3 big nights over the two weeks we're staying. Not planning on spending all my money on getting drunk lol.

Is there anywhere/anything specific that you reckon has to be done on an Ibiza holiday? I don't know the place at all, and I bet theres a lot of missed opportunities that people just don't get to experience being out every night and sleeping all day!

Any advice would be appreciated :)

How long have you got :? ;)

I'd visit the forums parent site www.ibiza-spotlight.com for loads of info, and do loads of home work on here, try different searches, theres tonnes of info available here.

Heres a (small) sellection of my must do's :-

1. Hire a car and explore the island. Theres loads of 'stunning' coastline and beaches (some of the best in Europe imo) to discover (theres an interactive map on Ibiza Spotlight), and have a mooch around the inland villages, hippy markets, etc etc.

Beaches i like :- Cala Salada (ramble to the nicer part), Cala Conta (Stunning), Benirras, Cala Jondal (chilllin at Blu Marlin or relaxing at Tropicana), Cala Vadella (very nice family beach, usually not too crowded), Cala Carbo, Salinas (definite must do for first timer), Cala Gracionetta (tiny beach used mainly by locals) and Talamanca is nice also. The are more (365 in total !!!) but i could be here all day, thats why its good to hire a car, even just for a few days.

2. Visit Formentera. It really is Stunning. Do searches on here, there are a few reasonable day trips by boat.

3. Take in sunsets from various parts of the island. As a first timer the sunset strip is a must. But also try the likes of Cap d'es Falco and Benirras etc etc, again search on here.

4. Sample one of the many fine restaurants (again search here). If you plan on going to Pacha one night i'd eat there first as you get in free, and it saves all the hassle of getting around between eating and clubbing. Its a nice experience, although dont book too early, we normally book it for 10.30 - 11.00 pm. Then when dinners finished you go straight into the club. The food is good also !!

Cant think of anymore at the mo, my hangover is not good !! When i do i'll update !! :D
