Setting the scene.

Myself being Scottish and my Spanish wife first trip this season but my 6th Trip out to the clubbing Mecca.

Now we are going back in October for the Space Closing and to do formentera for a few days also to relax.

- arrived early hours of Tuesday and thoughts of going to Es Paradis as never been before this trip but see later...

Too tired and wife grumpy thinking Carl Cox tomorrow mmm Retro or no retro... Ok we just went for a walk down to west end to see some hotels and friends of previous trips. Only to find out our man Jesus not working at Central Park anymore

A quick drink from of the 24hour shops and catch an early night Issh

Tuesday 14th June

First day and we take a wander up to Mercadona for our weekly shop as staying at Marina playa hotel. Catch a nice cup of cafe bonbon which is simply expressing with condensed milk mmm to wake us up. For the journey up the hill.

Taxi home and then ponder how we are gonna tackle the day ahead to the main event of the week Carl Cox opening party...

After a quick meal in the apartment we headed to the pool and bumper into some sound Scottish lassies. We got a wee bit sozzled as the hotel invited us to some cava and we also bought a bottle age some cocktails which are the best on the island in my opinion. Toblerone mmmm

We went back to the rooms fir a later than usual siesta.

Disco bus a bit less rowdy than usual even tho they was allowing booze on this year.

All warmed up we headed into Carl Cox and found our usual spot and arranged to meet up with a friend I met at CC last year. Checked out the terrace and was surprised and happy to see the VIP was all gone. Geezer from the disco bus was chewing his face off and dancing like a spanner.

We headed into the main room at 2.30 and stayed there until 6.20 for the majority of Carls set.

Loved every second including meeting that old buddy who we would catch up with later. Pepe handing out drink tokens.

Carl really seemed to be intent on going full into music rather than flair this year. None of his usual revolution world announcement which I like but has it's place and seemed right this time to strip it back and straight into warming the crowd up with tune after tune.

I am not as addicted to my tunes as I was years ago so not going to to roll the tracks of my tongue but suffice to say plenty of CC classics and new stuff. If pushed I could tell you the names.

Out into the old terrace
And the sight if the daylight was feeling just so perfect for Space.damm we are gonna miss it. Not before one more visit in October.

Wednesday 15th.

After getting up around 1.30 we then headed down into San Antonio and worked our way through town trying to check out old places like the coffee shop near the bus station, el Rincon de Pepe, then onto Kanya down on the sunset strip for early afternoon food which was lovely. Nice croquettas with jamon and usually for us in Ibiza we opted for nachos which were nice but strange in the very hot setting. Would have preferred a salad which wasn't available that day but was on the menu later in the week when we returned.

We managed to get Lista for Sankeys in the evening and we popped along to Bossa and surprised it was bigger that imagined from previous visits to the general Space surrounding. More bars around Sankeys and defo more Pr which handing out bands trying to persuade to go Space.

Sankeys venue didn't impress at all. Small and sound system was nothing compared to Space or Amnesia. The night was dance 88/89 and was strange to see Clara da Costa playing in such a tiny smaller second room. We met her the night before at Space which was cool. We got the lista through another Dj tho. We stayed to see bushwacka. Remember Jos Wink/lil Louis - how is your evening so far and some heavy acid house mixes and then called it a early night as was exhausted from Coxy exploits the night before. We headed outside and grabbed a couple of cocktails a pizza before heading home

Thursday 16th.

Might make a lot of spotlight regulars cringe but bear with me. It's not all bad in the end.., stay focused spotlighters..I won't let you down.

Ocean beach/Outdoor cinema/f*** me I am famous.

Ocean Beach - Ministry with Dj Spoony. Not my standard offering but since meeting Spoony at our hotel in 2014 and sorting our mates guestlist even tho we didn't go to see home we thought what a top bloke. We checked out Coxy at Sands that day.

Me and the missus have tried out various beds at this venue and opted for poolside one this time. €400 spend and we made sure we eat and drank cocktails to make the amount work for us. The platters are very very nice and one if the best meals ever on the island. England vs Wales was just finishing as Spoony eventually came on.

It wasn't heavy on the hip/hop style and was more urban house in the style of Mj, Stevie Wonder and alot of Motown style Housey remixes etc.

Spoony recognised my wife straight away - behave.... Then managed to get a chat with him and his friends etc top bloke would go again.

- then onto outdoor cinema in dalt Vila - run must Thursday through cinema paradiso. This was a Spanish with English subtitles but not all like that. Great location and venue. Good value for money with a drink and small popcorn for €15 including beanbags chair. However Ibiza was getting windy and a bit cold in evening in contrast to hot 27-32 in the day. Very disappointed asdidn't provide some blanket as had to leave early. Too cold bbbrrr

- now onto the thing I will get crucified for by my spotlight regulars. Guetta or not Guetta.

Simple thing was we got lista for Guetta and we had never been to Pacha in any of our trips and my wife being not a traditional dance music fan she wanted to go. €160 saved it was the only this plus the support of my wife in my Coxy/Sace journey that persuaded me to go.

Up to the door- lista no problems straight in.

Impressions of the club- wow very very pretty club and the roof terrace which is a maze to find first time out. Love the venue and vibe.

We knew it would be busy but found our spot on that balcony behind all the VIP crowd. We stayed until 3.00 and then though bugger it let's go as we were already starting to feel tired. We are 36/39 and don't take any disco biscuits.

All helped as I can safely say we left before Guetta came on at 3.30
