I am in serious need of a holiday!!! If I hear one more time "you live in Spain, you live in the sun, thats a holiday!" from one more person I´m going to go crazy!:spank:

Been working sooooooooo many hours and the weekends just disappear into oblivion, I just could really do with a week off doing absolutely sod all (preferably in Spain as the purse strings are a little restricted after buying my house)!! Not looking to go now....maybe June or July but at the moment I dont even have one teeny little thing to look forward to...:(

Any suggestions? Ibiza...no, sorry! Was thinking about Galicia? Silv, you seem to know lots of lovely places in Spain? I don´t really fancy staying in a hotel as I´d like to rent a private place as have 2 little pups coming.:D

Arrrrrrrggggghhhh! Booking holidays is supposed to be fun but I´m at my wits end!!!:spank:

If I was you I would go to Cabo de Gata, in Almería, very close from yours, the very best beaches in the country and cheap and nice as nowhere else in the spanish coast. BUT: nothing else to do than go to the beach, eat and relax. There's one chiringuito open at night that plays reagge all the time and that's all.

I need a holiday too! I just keep thinking i've only got 5 more months at my stupid job.

I too went to Cabo de Gata about 5/6 years ago.. Fantastic, lovely area, great food, good beaches and amazing scenery.. I recommend it too!:)

Yes I know Grego....I do make a living from sunbathing on the beach, walking around in very little clothes, supping beers and eating paella for every meal! Its a hard life!  I bloody wish!:x

Where did you stay utagaura? People from there go to the beach and have a dip in the water till early november 8O
It's the spanish region (almeria) with more hours of sun / year

Silvia, I will have to check my diary:oops:

I remember I planned on going to that area for 3 days and I ended up staying for 10.. actually now that I think of it, it was more like April... end of April

Do it asap cos I'm sure in few years it won't look so unspoilt, actually they are already constructing a massive hotel in one of the beaches (Carboneras), it's sitted just in the frontier of the park and GreenPeace says it's illegal

Granada is just 1,30 hours from Cabo de Gata and it's well worth the visit, La Alhambra must be seen ;)

yes I went to Granada as well

sorry for hijaking your post ibiza_lou.... but go to Cabo de gata!

  Haha! No worries....thanks for the suggestion guys....I mentioned it to the other half and although hes from Andalucia (Cordoba/Marbella) he´s never been there!:D Trip there me thinks!:D

lou, i know exactly what you mean. everyone needs a change and living on a sunshine holiday island is no different to living in the shadow of a dark satanic mill in that respect.

that's why i recommend you go to green spain. galicia, asturias, cantabria, and take a drive up via extremadura. it's so different from the arid south, spectacular scenery, fantastic food, you can wear nice clothes and they have RAIN!! I'll be having my first holiday in 3 years in october and i can't wait.

I think she can't make a road trip cos she is going with pups and they are not accepted everywhere, but Asturias and the Basque Country are a must seen: Picos de Europa, Oviedo, Donosti, Bilbao, fabades, queso cabrales, pinxos, albariño... ;) :D

Stephen, I discovered a place in Asturias that they do the very best lobster paella in the world (and we are paella experts  ), remember me further in the time to give you the telephone number cos it's well worth the visit (it's sitted in a lonely beach and you should "encargar" the paella in advance) ;)

:D Funny you should mention that Silv....am actually driving to Asturias from the 27-30th April (minus pups) with boyfriend and friends....but is not a holiday. There is going to be about 11 of us all going in our Minis (bit of Mini geeks we are! ) to meet a further 15 friends / cousins etc. ALSO with Minis, for a little drive around Asturias! Should be good laugh but due to past experience....road trips are no holiday....and I just want to do sweet F.A!!!

tranquilo lou, just teasing.;)

cabo de gata is rapidly climbing the list of places to take the family for a break. its good to hear more good reports, i can't wait to go there!!!:D

just a plug for spain here sil. we travelled thousands of kilometres round spain with our dog lucy and only ever had one problem - in leon - with accommodation. everywhere else our lu was treated like royalty.
in avila the buttons carried her bed up to the room for her
in santillana the chamber maid used to put her bed onto the washing line for it to air during the day when we were out.
and having a dog is a great way to meet friends - i can remember being surrounded by a gaggle of nuns in san sebastian who all wanted to know about lu and the guys in the pintxos bars giving her lots of treats.
across spain by dog - it's the way to go!

Great news Stephen, I always have a bit of "complex" cos IMO animals are not as well treated as they deserve in this country, but of course, being a cat owner I have never experienced this :D
