Lawler should rock it! Although I miss his dark tribal sound...just personal preference. First time I saw him was during his first lights out tour...it warped my fragile little mind. For a while I was in the middle of a jungle listening to the beats of a drum...darn fungi

Nick Warren...always impressive. 8)

Zabiela :o Make sure you get close to the DJ booth for a little while and watch this guy in action....he will blow your mind...truly talented with mad skills!! MAD SKILLS I say!

AND SANDER!!! :o :o Caught him several months ago and was uber impressed...played some SICK SICK stuff with basslines that made me want to vomit all over the place...in a good way.

I expect full reviews!! :P

Oh, and if Sander plays 'The Fruit' on a good sound system...bring a bag cuz that bassline is SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't know it was that sick until I was properly introduced to it on some serious speakers punching some serious bass... Prepare to boogy!

Should I go see Sander in 2 weeks at Ministry or go to Nastydirtysexmusic the week after? Bearing in mind I'm taking people not as obsessed with house music as I am??????????

james.... where have you been?? everyone loves Sander. Take them for sure. I took a couple of my hip-hop buddies to see him and they were way impressed. One actually asked to copy a few of my CD's.

j_love.... yeah thats what I heard about Zabiela, I am super stoked that I finally get to see his antics in person. And of COURSE I will have the full report on Sander complete with piccies. :P ps. "IT IS THE JUICE...... THAT MAKES IT JUICY....." Hahaha I have to fight back doing the Robot to that one!!!!

Don't miss Zabiela! I promise you will not regret it! He is considered the best technical dj in the world today and his sets are just incredible! Sasha didn't take him under his wing for nothing!

PG 79:

Where is Lawler going to play? I checked his web site, but no info :? . I am assuming that "my area" means SD and not LA as LA is 130 miles 8O from SD.

Cheers,

Sander rocks. This be true 8)

I found out yesterday that we've got Steve Lawler coming in 3 weeks :D The same night as the Moby concert. That's going to be one long Saturday night 8)

and in 2 weeks we've got NastyDirtySexMusic and Different Gear, on the same night as the Faithless concert 8)

Laguna, Lawler will be at Avalon in LA that night. I consider "my area" to be LA as well because its only a couple hours away. :D ps. Don't think you are in to trance, but if you are, Armin van Buuren/Markus Schulz are going to be at 4th and B on Sunday the 29th.

It was ASININE how incredible Sander was... just don't have time to write right now. Will post review prolly tonight.

:D :D :D :D :D

Trance, Laguna... no no no.

OK I'm back. SANDER.....

GOOD LORD did he blow it up. The joint was completely at capacity of course. The set was incredibly diverse!!! A little dirtier than what I am used to from him overall. But Sander doesn't do filthy dirty like anyone else I have heard. He makes it his own and it is always ultra danceable, penetrating and FUUUNNNNKKKYYYYY lol.

He switched from sexy, deep house to grimey, funky breaks to uplifting vocal disco without ANY evidence of a seam. The buildups and drops were plentiful and intoxicating. And we know how much I love a showman... well he looked like an angel up there. He has the most wonderful, contagious smile.

Three large screens were set up behind him with an incredible laser show and fantastic visuals that coordinated with the tunes.

(Mild) Disappointments? He played a very housey version of "The Fruit," and I love the original as is. (j_love.) It is a song that needs no alteration as far as I am concerned. I was looking forward to hearing those crazy basslines on Avalon's state-of-the-art system. Towards the end, he switched styles a little too rapidly for my taste. I would start to get in to a track and then he would switch. I think it was because the crowd was so high energy and Sander wanted to please them. He definitely accomplished that feat!! :D

Highlights: Watching him is mesmorizing. He seems to feel every beat down to his bone marrow. The club has many levels... the top floor has a great open air patio and some stadium-style seating with spacious aisles by the railing for dancing... it was awesome to look down on the crowd and see everyone worshipping a very appreciative Sander. His harder house tracks were so sparkly and never obnoxious, with incomprehensible mixing. Within the last 5 songs he played the best mix of Mr. Brightside I have heard to date. IMOP some people have ruined that song by making it too trancey. His mix was beautiful, more down tempo and rollicking, and thankfully preserved the emotion of the original. Just gorgeous... my heart swelled.

Bet you couldn't tell I had a good time. :D :D :D Be back with pics, as soon as I get them from a good friend of mine.

-xo PG!!

WOW.. glad u had a blast ;)

a friend of mine saw Sander @ Vancover a couple of days ago.. and he was AMAZING!!!! DOMO ARIGATO MR. ROBOTO 8O !!!

Awesome! I'm glad you had a good time PachaGirl.

I'm glad to see his set was totally different than when he played here in Dallas. He started off bangin for the first couple of hours, then got into the melodic uplifting stuff, then for the last 1.5 hours it was pure sickness & phat basslines. Sorry you didn't get to here a proper mix of The Fruit. Maybe we'll get to hear it in Ibiza... ;)

Did you go to any NYE parties in LA? I was at Avalon when it was 'The Palace' for NYE. I went to Giant's NYE party and then headed over to The Palace to catch Digweed in his remaining 9 hours. We were there from 2AM until 11AM, when the last record stopped. 8O Absolutely MAGICAL! One of the best parties of my life...I proposed at the stroke of midnight too. :D The year before that I went to Giant's NYE party and then afterhours at Club AD. Sasha, Burridge, Cusick, DJ Three, & Sander were there. 8O No set times...the djs would just put on a record, wander around the club, dance, etc. Quite funny at the state they were in... 8) At one point Sasha was running around the club shoeless asking if anyone had seen his shoes. Mayhem...

I've had some memorable moments in LA...I hope to acquire a few in Ibiza as well... :D

When are you heading to Ibiza this summer?
