I'm aware of the saying 'you can't polish a turd', but can anyone give me some advice on how to get my mix onto a CD without all the levels being too high etc, are there any guides available on the net?

Thnx in advance amigos! :D

check out www.computermusic.co.uk ,they have some ace tutorials on there and also the guys that use the forum are usually great with advice.

hope that helps

From what I know run the mix thru a wave editor and normalize it so that it peaks at a set level.

Yeah comp music is pretty good but will be geared towards individual tracks.

Mastering... where do i start! Its a diff process everytime really but the easiest thing for u would be to make sure the max volume of the recording is 0db. If you have wavelab you can watch the equaliser or use the 'analyse' function. Soundforge has something similar i think. After that you want to apply a limiter, i would set the output to -0.2db and threshhold to around 2-3db. I think 'wavehammer' (supplied with soundforge) does this but i use 3rd party plugins so i havent used it before.

Cheers Dam0. but I'm currently offline at the moment due to a house move, the only piece of software I've got for normalising my mix is Nero which has a pretty basic .WAV editor, even so I'll follow the advice you gave and let you know how I get on...

Thanks again!
