How much busier is July/August?

Just booked (yippee! Hurrah! etc...) for 26 July for two weeks. Not my ideal time but due to now living with a teacher, didn't have much choice in the matter.

So, my question is, just how much busier is it around this time compared with the openings and closings? Will the queues for the clubs be horrific? Will I have to resort to physical violence in order to secure a spot on the beach outside Bora Bora?

yup:roll:

seriously clara,i think you are worrying a wee bit unduly.

sure it will be busier than june but take one of those famous 'chill pills' and all will be fine.:) :)

its just a shame you have picked the two weeks when cocoon isn't on.

I think you detected worry in my post when there isn't any. I'm chuffed to bits that I'm actually going away for two weeks, but just wanted to know about planning things, ie if I should leave that little bit earlier to avoid queues in the clubs, etc.

It's all good! :)

August is a nightmare imo, massive queues to get into clubs, stupidly overcrowded, queueing for ages to get a taxi, high concentration of BAs.....but like you said best to go in August than not at all :D

The trouble with peak season is some of the clubs just get silly - for example Pacha on any popular nights, where it's impossible to move and the clubbers are pushy and shovey. The higher entry prices isn't particularly lovely either. taxis can be a nightmare too.

But then again, the best thing about going then is 1) all the space afterhours are open and busy 8) 8) 8) 2) all the little cool parties are on like underground (vvvvwrong, superfreq) as well as other secret/free parties 3) bora bora is going off earlier in the afternoon 8) and 4) you know which new/alternative to the established nights are popular and so you can have a bit more variation

I'm considering going early/mid july next year just so I can have more fun at space afters and go to more small parties that don't kick off until later in the season. Oh, and to see Carl Cox

my experiences: (have been there twice in july and twice in september)

- the island in general is MUCH busier in july than in september. but i guess the climax of this subject is just in between - august.
- the clubs are same crowded in july as in september. i really couldn't spot any real difference!
- the main difference between july and september IMO is that it's just hotter! 8)

just go to the clubs earlier than you would normally.........even half an hour to an hour can make the difference between walking straight in and queueing for a while.

going to ibiza in july/aug gets unfair stick IMO, when you're there you just get on with it and as long as you do a little bit of thinking/planning then the thought of "its too busy" shouldn't enter your head. (unless that is, if you turn up at manumission or cream at 3am8O 8O 8O )

taxis are about the worst part.

do you catch R1 wknd?? if so, thats amazing, the atmosphere is loco at this time8) 8) .

Cool, thanks for the comments everyone.

It did seem a bit too quiet in June last year and it seemed a shame that a lot of the nights I wanted to go to (Manumission, Carl Cox, Underground...) hadn't begun yet.

At least it will definitely be buzzing!

I think it was slightly busier overall.

A couple of the club nights I went to seemed less busy, most seemed about the same or slightly more full.

i've gone the end of August, last year went from August 28th, but i guess that doesn't really count? :? this year i will be going from about that date too.
i have never been i peak peak season, but i can't imagine having a bad time in ibiza!!:)

august is the worst month in the world. the island is packed to the rafters because the french spanish and italians nearly all arrive in that month. the weather is unbearable - way too humid. the traffic horrendous, the beaches too full, and the service in bars and restaurants suffers under the weight of numbers and people are at their rattiest because of it. i'd rather be somewhere else in august

What are the attendance figures?...2000 was the busiest year on the island to date wasn't it? (correct me if I'm wrong)
I was there in August and found it stupidly busy but loved it that way!
June isn't busy enough for me in some respects...although the openings are great and draw in a really good crowd.
The crowd for the second wls was horribly English compared to the opening (early July) and traditionally, all the Spaniards and Italians arrive on the island in August.
This might make for a more Eurotrashy crowd - which is better imo.

...just trying to play devils advocate. ;)

You sell it well!

It's pretty much what I expect, but as has been said, I didn't have much choice in the matter this year.

Agreed:!:

I found last June to be quiet. This June was really busy with places like the New Kanya Beach Bar and Bora Bora really busy. Taxis on Sundays still a nightmare and a huge que at the Rank in San An mid Sunday afternoon. Thankfully we manage to get an illegal cab that tooks us to space in less than 15 mins not stopping at many red lights on the way

Were also going the 26th into the bay!!! whre is it your staying Clara??

Not looking foward to the busy aspect, although we tend not to tackle the clubs as much as some, two is the most we'l visit, we'l just spend most of our time in relaxing bars in and around the bay, or going up the west end!

The Wether is a biggy though, Humidity ****s me over:oops:
