How many times....

...do you hear a dj play the same song twice during a set?

I've heard the same song played a few times during a party but I'm usually too messed up/chatty/disinterested to notice when it's the same dj, unless I'm concentrating (hard to do sometimes) or actively watching the dj.

I'm sure I've heard someone play the same tune at the start and at the end of a set in Jimmy-Young-style signature music 8O , but I'd like your thoughts on the matter.

i've heard quite alot of DJ play the same tune twice in thier set, but they usually played a different remix of that tune each time.

I would never do it in a 'real' set but when I used to play in a bar/club all night where people are coming in and out all the time then I would......

A True set should have a beginning, middle and end with peaks and dips in it to keep people moving with it so no room for repetition in there.

The only sort of exception to that is when you 'tease' a track in by almost bringing it in a few times at different stages in the set before finally dropping it in and giving the crowd what they are begging for ;)

the only time i ever heard the same tune played in a set was a the last peach at camden palace when graham gold played william orbit adagio for strings twice. i cried both times.
