My family are from Finglass (sp?) in Dublin and are easily understandable thank God. Although my mum's ex-husband was from Galway and us kids could only understand the last word of any sentence he spoke - when he was p*ssed it was even worse

Easily understandable from Finglas i live beside Finglas myself, Finglas is working class area in North Dublin and they would have your normal Dublin accent which to some might be difficult to understand, i always try to speak slower when im around people not from Dublin or Ireland but any other time i just speak as normal.

Yes, that's the place. I went to visit where my family lived and went to school etc when we were in Dublin but my mum gave me the wrong address and I never found the street etc. - probably been bull dozed

I can relate to this, although the welsh language is making a big come back here.

I think about 45% of the population speak welsh, most people that speak welsh also speak english just as well. The welsh langauge is all around with most signs and printed in both English and Welsh.

The welsh speakers in my family died with my grandfather but I hope to reestablish them, by sending my children to the local welsh language school.
