Hi guys,

First of all it's pretty sweet there's a large online community just for Ibiza!

I am a first time visitor and traveling alone to Ibiza in a few weeks. Usually when I travel alone I try to find hostels so it's easier to meet people and go out with new friends. But it seems that there isn't really hostels (shared rooms) in Ibiza, so what would you Ibiza veterans recommend as far as accommodations go? Is there a cheap hotel where it's easy to meet people to either go out to parties at night and check out the beaches during the day?

Also, I'll be there from Sunday to Wednesday in August; is Ibiza weekday/weekend party scene different? If so, which town is better on weekdays?

Thanks!

Hi Franklin

The party scene goes on all week all over the island, so you won't have any trouble finding a decent night whether you go weekend or mid-week. If there's any particular club night you want to go to it's worth checking the listings on the party calendar on this site.

In terms of where to stay, if you're into a lively bar/club scene with young people then the main areas are San Antonio in the west or Ibiza Town/Playa D'en Bossa in the south east.

San An tends to be mainly English, Ibiza Town seems to have a more international feel. Both have good transport links to get to each other by bus or to local beaches so getting around won't be a problem.

San Antonio will usually be a cheaper option and if you're only staying 3 nights you should be able to get something for there for between £100 and £140. Try a site like travel republic as I've often got good value deals there. If you want to stay the other side of the island near Ibiza Town you're probably looking at a bit more money - again travel republic were doing Central Playa Hotel in Figueretas for about £140 for 3 days on a room only.

Personally, I would always tend to stay in or near Ibiza Town, but I know opinion is well divided on this site and it depends what you want. I don't think you'll have too much trouble meeting people in any of the main resorts.

The other thing is that August is the most expensive month on the island - both in terms of accommodation and prices for clubs, so it's worth looking out for some of the bars that do decent nights that you don't have to pay entry fees for as well (there are usually plenty of good ones). Good luck finding something and have a good time.:)

Thanks Budgie that really helps! I've heard also that Ibiza has such a free-spirited atmosphere that it's fairly easy to meet people to go out with around your hotel, I guess coming from where I am it's hard to imagine :)

Looking forward to it!

We stayed at the Hostal Florencio in San An last year and I thought it had a hostel feel to it - a nice mix of international travellers rather than just boorish british holidaymakers. But much nicer rooms than most hostels I've stayed in!

Nice and cheap too which was good and fantastic location round the corner from Ibiza Rocks Hotel with a really cheap supermarket next door.
