Honeymoon - It just gets better

Here goes the rundown of our week.

SATURDAY - SUNDAY

Arrived Saturday and waited until 2pm to get into our "Honeymoon" apartment and it was worth the wait it was fantastic. Settled in for a bit and rested to get ready for our VIP trip to Pacha for DEF MIX and David Morales. First we headed for San An in the hope someone would proposition us, which they did. Thanks. It was disappointing to arrive at Pacha and find out David Guetta was playing their main slot and then whilst waiting at the VIP desk to be told we could only have a table on the terrace because I was breach of "The world’s most cosmopolitan" clubs dress code. I had a Kilt on for god’s sake. Anyhow we had to settle for the terrace as the Ibizians were having none of this "skirt" malarkey. This was probably a blessing in disguise as we don't really like "That Egg Bloke".

Got mashed and drunk anyhow and headed home about 5am. Not too impressed with Pacha. Whats beautiful about it??? Its dark, smells and the stairs to the terrace are crap.

SUNDAY - SUNDAY - MONDAY

After a mangled sleep we got back up at lunchtime and headed route 1 to SPACE and "We love Sundays” Had a quick breakfast first then after the usual "yes please" - "Thank you sir" in the car park it was onwards and upwards and I mean UP UP UP.

Took about half an hour (or a couple of lines) and we were bang in the groove and jumped around in the sunset terrace for a while whilst the place went mad. 2.30pm and the place was heaving. Amazing. Spent time in the upstairs outside terrace where the music is a bit more chilled and after, ourselves, having an escapade with security spend a while watching "Fly Eyes" (our nickname for a particular bouncer) do his thing. He was very good at it (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED) and was catching someone every 5 mins as he dotted around the club giving us a smile as he passed as he knew we were watching him, watching us. We sat around after that chatting away and taking the piss out of each other and people who we just met. Great fun it was as well.

In case you are wondering our escape ended with some slight of hand and a warning to go to the toilets next time. We decided to leave and visit BoraBora and catch some rays. By this time I have no idea what time it is, about 7pm or 8pm maybe!

The drinks in BoraBora were more expensive than in Space which is crap really. Met some nice folks on the beach and spent a couple of hours sorting ourselves out in their apartment for the return to Space later. Returning to Space just after midnight (I think) with our new found friends made for an excellent end to our We Love Sundays and Space experience with Too Many DJ's and Felix the Housecat ending our night. TMDJs was rammed to the brim as was the whole club by this time.

When I next woke up my left hand had been partially paralysed and this was a bit worrying as I thought it was pins and needles until it was still the same after an hour. Had I took too much????

Monday night saw us veg out a little and head over to San An. to meet the Spotlight crew and SuePi nk in the Pink Panther. Had something to eat and headed home for some much needed rest.

TUESDAY

Blissful romantic day making use of the health club that we had a private lift to for the afternoon after enjoying some great food in Magdalena’s restaurant. If you are in Santa Eulalia you really should check it out. We more or less had the whole spa area to ourselves and made best use of it (wink, wink) before plunging into the ice pool and heading back outside for sun tanning and pool session. Went out later that evening to The Street of Restaurants’ in Sta. Eulalaia and enjoyed the starter but god knows what they served us for a meat only Paella. It looked and tasted crap. We were told it was chicken but if it was, it was some f**ked up chicken.

WEDNESDAY

We had booked a Spa Treatment for the Wednesdays and this was to take place at 3pm. We had a wee wonder round Sta. Eulalia looking for a money exchange and really had to look. (WORD OF WARNING) Do not change your £'s into €'s Travellers cheques as will get fleeced. I still think the best and cheapest way to cash abroad is to use your bank card.

Returned to the apartment and Magdalena's for a bite to eat (you have to try it out) had 3 great courses before "the wife" headed off for her treatment. I had a couple of drinks whilst playing around with the tunes in the apartment before roasting in the heat and heading to the Spa for a dip in the cold pool before my turn at the treatment.

I have never had my whole body brushed before. It was brilliant. Really felt relaxed during the treatment and after the brushing I was slowly cleaned all over whilst listening to some great chill sounds. Must have dozed off at one time (or maybe more) as I remember having to be woke up a couple of times and at one stage almost kicking the masseur when she tickled my foot unexpectantly. Completely relaxed I headed back to the apartment and we both chilled for a while.

Trying to decide to where to go was a nightmare but I thought Garlands @ Eden sounded pretty cheesy so we decided to head over there. A walk around the harbour area seen us alright and we headed into Eden. We loved the cheesier style of music at Garlands and the crowd was very nice and everybody smiled at each other as they danced the night away. The bouncers were a bit OTT and they need to calm down a bit and understand that you have to put your drink down sometimes. Getting masks and seeing folks with the big noses and silly glasses just made the night all the more enjoyable and we left about 5am to catch the disco bus back home.

THURSDAY

Cream night and we really should have went but never got there. Bit of a washout it turned out to be but at least I have a mix created in Ibiza.

FRIDAY

Last night and we had to wait for a phone call to see if our hot air balloon trip was going ahead. Oh and we were also trying to decide where to finish our honeymoon.

After being met at our apartment around 7.30pm we set off from Sta, Eulalia and headed toward the centre of the island with Jose and Sergio.
Within 10 minutes we were standing at the launch site waiting for the sun to drop a bit as the thermals are less when it's a bit cooler (we were told). It was a bit touch and go as to whether we would get our trip as it had been windy all day. We watched the trees sway a little and helped unpack the balloon from the trailer. We helped out when asked and this made us feel really part of what was happening and not just passengers.

20 minutes later and the balloon was upright and we were jumping in with Jose driving (if you can call it that). Off we went heading further inland and raising up high enough to see the whole island. It was a bit dusty so we dropped back down again and we could clearly see Sta. Eulalia behind us and Ibiza Town to the side. Jose was pointing out places to us and keeping an eye on where we were going and at what height. It was a very sedate and surreal feeling as you drift along over some fantastic villas trying to spot landmarks you recognise. Sergio was following with the trailer and the large 4x4 and keeping in radio contact as we went. It's quite a tight squeeze in the basket and great fun hoping around as you realise that you are now in the forward driving position.
Slowly up and down we worked our way in the direction of San An. over wooded areas and towns alike. Hover over towns was great as lots of folks would holler at you and wave as you slowly glided past. You will see the best sunset from the balloon and one you will always remember. Much better than any bar in the sunset strip. You feel like you have the whole sunset to yourselves.

After about 40 minutes Jose decided it was time to land and we prepared to hit the ground. We hit it a big field that had just been ploughed so Jose quickly added some hot air into the balloon and up we went again in search of another landing spot.

Our fun really began here as landing spots were very thin on the ground and always seemed to be just out of our reach. We continued on and were getting close enough to see the lights of Es Paradis and the Rest of San Antonio but we were a bit north of the resort. Having said that we came over a ridge and were thinking "well if we go over that next one it's the drink". Little did we know that Jose is so good a pilot that with Sergio’s help we landed on a postage stamp piece of land in what I can only describe as the gentlest touchdown we have experienced? We won't tell you how this was done as you really should go and find out for yourself.
Finally down and we had our Champagne and were baptised into the balloon flyers club and took some photos.
Never took long to pack up the balloon and basket and we soon heading back over to our side of the island. We dropped Sergio off on the way and found out that he had to DJ in Pacha that night and from that little snippet of info we ended up on the guest list for that night.
All we can really say is thank you very much to Jose and Sergio. We will remember forever our maiden flight on The White Isle.

Balloon Pics

So guest list for Pure Pacha it was and off we went. Big mistake. It was quite bouncing in the club but it was weird. The locals (who I can't blame) are out in force and kind of have that "who the f**k are you" look on them. Mr. Tong is well past his sell by date and we never stayed that long before heading back ready to catch our 10.30am flight home.

OVERALL
I think next time (god I want to back already) I will go with my hunches and visit the clubs/nights that are less well known and hopefully can offer something different. Salvacion in El Divino on Thursday looks good and I really regret going to Pacha twice when I could have went to Amnesia and Privilege.

Santa Eulalia is a bit out of the way but the apartment was lovely. This is what I have said about it.
Fantastic. We stayed in the apartment above the Spa and have to say the whole week was excellent. We bought weekly membership for the Spa, €21, I think it was, and more or less had the whole steam room, ice room, sauna areas to ourselves.
The food in the restaurant cannot be faulted and considering they sell daytime 3 courses for €10 this must be one of Ibiza’s best kept secrets. The seating area in the bar/restaurant is great and I can't imagine anywhere else on the island being so nice.
The Spa treatments we had were magnificent and had me in a totally chilled out honeymoon mood. It's just a pity it never lasted as my randy wife was determined to make best use of the apartment above :-)
