Doesnt look like it will be though :(

Spanish fans chanting racial slurs and monkey noises at the England Under 21 sides black players last night :( :evil: The English Football association has complained to FIFA.

This coming after the Spanish national football coach and the Spanish football association had to appologise to Arsenal and Thierry Henry after the spanish coach called him a black bastard or equivilent translation not long ago :(

Is there more inherrant racism in Spanish football than other western european countries?

Things seem to have been getting better accross europe in recent years but these latest incidents are ruining the sport again and dragging it back to the dark days of the 70's :(

It doesnt look good does it, esp with the yob eliment of English football that would use such incidents to further stir up trouble and make things even worse....

N8, the spanish coach is what we call "missing link", great footballer man but no braincells
The monkee sounds are a very silly tradition from radical supporters.


I feel totally ashamed for that, specially being a football suporter, but I don't think it's fair to generalise for one man's opinions or for a silly action from a radical group
 
I wasnt generalising, i was asking before i made my opinions....

To be fair though, when the national coach and the national teams supporters have just made such racist chants and such then that WOULD suggest that there was a problem with racism, when it has just been made apparant so high up in the scale of the game. Like you say silvia, it is just one man with a small brain but because of his position his views get heard and seen by a lot of people so he drags down the rest of spanish football and its reputation with him :(

England has done very well in getting rid of racism, it was bery bad years ago but now much better. England still has the groups of thugs/yobs though that follow the national team and the whole of english football suffers because of their actions/fighting :(

Anyway, there's a big difference between england and spain. Spain is totally new in the multicultural society, immigrants from other races and cultures are a "novelty" for us, cos 5, 10 years ago there were hardly different races. In England, for ages, there's been lots of cultures, religions and races. Trust me, even for me that I want to think I'm a cosmopolite chick ;) it's alwyas shocking taking a tube in London
What I try to say is that you have walked lots in this subject cos it's and "old" issue for you, while we just started to work about it.
 
Are these the same spaniards that were conquered by the moors all those years ago and who now by some way or another have moorish blood in them??

seriously, dont beat yourself up syl!! Theres wan**rs like that at grounds up & down the country every week, some sets of "fans" worse than others, it's a big problem in Italy with the "ultras" and also germany, netherlands and really bad in eastern europe, where they are very backward!! Obviously it doesnt help with Spains coach saying those things to reyes and obviously we have big ron, but it is getting better, I can still remember going to watch Man City in the early 80's and our black players Dave Bennett, Roger Palmer & Alex Williams, getting that kind of stick every week from visiting Fans (Mainly Leeds & East London teams) even as recently as 2 yrs ago Eyal Berkovic nearly did a "cantona" on a supporter he heard making an anti-semitic remark!!!

But by & large it's getting better!!

p.s we were pants on Saturday, took my g/f for the first time and she hated it....to be fair though she stayed longer than most of the true-blues!!

Football seems to show off worst part of everyone and every nationality.

By the way, bear in mind that I only support Barça, and I found selections extremly boring ;)

No, never get excited watching a selection game. Ours is not the best, so never it's never in the final or semi-final.
Selections are un-natural teams. You can easely see that they never play together.

I think there's also to see that I'm not a big spanish patriot (I'm catalan) ;)

I'm a masochist!

I didn't make it on Saturday (I'm going to the Villa game a week on Saturday though) but I hate it when people leave early, especially as so much can happen in the final minutes. Did people learn nothing from Wembley 99?
