Here's an idea... Spotlight Radio

OK. Found an app that can broadcast a shoutcast stream, but you still need a shoutcast server and shoutcast.com doesnt seem to host this stuff for free.. does it?

Right guys and girls. Just an idea so please let me know your thoughts.

Damo knows this bit already but Im currently presenting on a radio station that broadcasts on am all over essex ,harlow etc , on the web and all over london on telewest digital.

Heres the deal. Without running the risk of upsetting my employers the station is trying to change its format but the programme controller was sayin at the meeting the other day that we must only play feel good music. But he luvs xxxx like atomic kitten and thinks that DJ casper is dance music

At this point I chimned in with words to the effect of "House Music is proper feel good music"

I tried to sell him the idea of this very thing. ie ...Half hour Mark Sun mix.....half hour stu hirst mix .....damo mix/tune(s) and so on and he flatly refused it.

But I went over him to the station manager and he has agreed and will allow it if we can get a show sponered.

Also that means adverts etc for nights and it will all link in well and benfit everyone involved.

I reckon we would get a good listenership if they went with it.

What do you think guys+especially yourself Gecko with the idea of a show being sponsored by DJ mag.

what frequency fella?

Ok guys Ive got some good news.

Ive just spoken with the manager and he will let the show run for a small fee of just £600 a month.

The deal includes 1 advertisment played 8 times a day. Jingles for the show and a link from our soon to be revamped website.

The station has a potential 250,000 listeners and I reckon between us we could do something great with it.

All we need is someone to sponsor the show be it Spotlight, DJ-Mag or anyone.
We do have 2 guys that do house shows (not upfront tho) and they are very good and I will be presenting this show if it goes ahead.

We could have ads for our nights. Reports on nights out.Interviews with you guys etc etc. Plus it gets better. The company that own the radio station want to open up a TV station on cable within the next 5 years.

These people have very powerfull connections in all walks of the media but are very business orientated hence poor knowledge of "good" music.

The show content would also inc any productions you may have done.
Mixes from certain nights. Basically make it as upfront as possible.

Any takers for sponsorship guys? 8) 8) ;)

Just to add to this.We are getting a brand new server very soon to support more hits and we are also applying for and stand a good chance of getting an FM license.
