Herbal/Fruit Teas

Do herbal/fruit teas have caffeine in them??

I ask cos I've not drunk normal tea or coffee for about 10 years but in winter I can't just drink water all the time so I've started drinking herbal/fruit teas and even started having them in the evening...... but I am now having really bad sleep - trouble getting to sleep and then when I do get to sleep my sleep's really patchy :?

Tom says that it could be to do with all the herbal teas I'm drinking but I thought they were caffeine free so that's why I started drinking them cos I thought they were better for me :?

they should be caffeine free

have you tried drinking camomile in the evenings, isn't that supposed to help you get to sleep?

maybe it's because you're not tired during the week from the weekend at the moment due to detox

I drink camomile before bed as i was having trouble sleeping. It works! i'm out like a light!

I've really gone off normal tea and can't stand coffee, so i tend to just drink water and if i fancy a hot drink i have nettle or detox tea.

Rock and roll!

Nettle / Detox tea is Bluugggghhhhhhhhhhh

Maybe i should start drinking camomile too though, i have trouble sleeping too. Maybe thats due to Joey surfing the net on his laptop in bed until 1am though

I thought that at first, but once you get used to it, it's great. The detox tea i drink has a liquorice kind of taste to it - very pleasant.

Herbal tea doesn't leave that awful, dry aftertaste that normal tea leaves :?

herbal tea is VERY different from the 'fruit infusion' type drinks you can buy in the supermarket. these infusion type drinks contain all sorts of additives and often sugar too which may be affecting you.

pure chamomile before bed should do the trick.

i have a lemon verbena plant and just pick a leaf or two off and pop it in a cup of hot water.

in the morning, try hot water, lemon and a wee bit of ginger.

hope this helps

Ahh I think that could be it, before I've been drinking strictly herbal teas like green, cammomile, peppermint and sleeping no probs but recently we've got some of those Twinings Infusion ones and it's probably all those bad e numbers and stuff that's keeping me awake.

Thanks for the advice Dr Russ ;)

no problemo.

i know your are extremely careful about which additives you introduce to you delicate constitution
after all you don't wanna be knocked out like, erm, a horse or anything do you

A bottle of wine before bed works for me.

Alcohol knocks me out ok, but tends to cause me to wake up several times during the night, mainly due to thirst.

Hello! i'm a bit of an expert on this because I can't drink caffeine :p

Green tea does have caffiene in it (although at much lower levels). I have a reaction even to the small amounts of caffiene in it and can't drink it.

Peppermint/camomile etc though should all be caffeine free. Its worth checking the packet though as sometimes you gert wierd flavoured teas that are normal tea with flavouring rather than herbal tea ;)

Hola rachel!

Hola Sil. :p L________ C_________ make me go funny.

I'd say a good s____ is the best thing to send you off into a contented sleep. Unfortunately I have to settle for regular exercise and lots of wine.
