anyone know any spanish lawers etc?

i posted last year that my girlfriend got caught with 29 tablets and had to go to court every tuesday (2004) we left ibiza thinking nothing would come of it. they are trying to summon her to court etc and want her to serve nearly 5 years in prison...... the whole thing was a massive misunderstanding but the spanish courts are pursuing it! she wasn't even caught "dealing" she just had them in her posession. the spanish courts have said they will try an international arrest if she does not appear in court??

can anyone help? she is innocent because they were for her and friends. if not how do the spanish expect us to raise funds to go to spain for a court case etc and solicitor fee's?? can anyone help?

What ever you do - DONT say that they were for her friends, because that in effect is dealing.

Personal use is the best route.

fascinating. as a complete novice - i failed my chemistry o level miserably - how many e's does one need to have the desired effect, as 29 seems to me like an unfeasably large amount for 'personal use'

Admittedly not an expert in Spanish law, but I don't think you can really call her "innocent" when she was carrying 29 doses of a controlled substance. I think pretty much anywhere that would be possession with intent to distribute.

Can I suggest that writing something on an internet chat board which basically admits her guilt to something this serious is really not a very good idea? Andy you might want to get the thread deleted or at least edit what you have written

I'd take some proper advice but depending on the real likelihood of your 'burd' (copyright Wayne18uk) doing some 'bird', I'd pop the summons back in the post with 'opened in error, not known at this address' on and sadly cross Spain of my list of holiday choices.

The proper advice I'd be looking for would be (a) what sentences have been given for similar offences and (b) whether they are are really gonna pursue it as far asking for extradition.

Hmmm... I'm sure if you write to the Spanish police highlighting this exact sentance, then you will be fine.

but that sentence is for a £1 million of cocaine - not 29 pills....... fingers crossed they wont come down on her too hard if she plays the "I've been really really silly and have learnt my lesson" card.....

Yeah, fair do's, BUT I was highlighting the point that they can and do extradite people for drugs offences.

No sympathy here im afraid. Its people like this that give the british in Ibiza a bad name. Five years sounds about right if it stops others polluting the island with drugs.
