Hi there. I'm new to forum and would like help straight away lol (sorry)
well. I'm looking at hiring a car from 2nd of June at 1am an return at 22:00 on 12th.
so it's out of hours pick up. Oh yeah.. From the airport when I land.
anyway. I've totaly got lost.. Looking at so many forums an hire companies and reviews on the companies.
Was going to book last night with Do You Spain. But then got put of with reviews about it been a rip off.
does anyone know of a good company what will do out of hours, with full no excess. I know I'll pay more for it ect. Looking for a golf or focus size car as there is 4 of us.
Any help would be most top ness :-))

Thanks for the reply. Just checked them out. And they are about 200 euro more then DYS. Also says I have to pay for out of hours on top of that I think.

You could try Hiper. I've always found them fine and the minibus is always there without a wait. You need to get the car back before 10pm and there's an out-of-hours pick up charge of 30Euros.

Rentals of over 7 days are Full to Empty so you need to buy a tank of fuel. However in 10 days I'm sure you can get though the bulk of it. Trouble is the companies in the terminal all close their desks at midnight, so if your plane lands late you're stuck with one of the off-airport companies who come collect you by minibus. There's not a lot in it between them, the cars are pretty clapped on the whole and the ones who are better than others are (as you've already seen) often a couple of hundred Euros more.

Although ghastly, Goldcar actually have some decent cars and all-in cover packages (at least they did in Menorca last year) but as to the experience - suffice to say just go expecting a hasstle and a nightmare and you won't be disappointed if it turns out that way. And pleasantly surprised if it doesn't. Over 10 days, if you have to wait two hours to get your hands on your hire car it isn't such a big deal. Over a 36 hour trip it's a "never again" outcome !

If you want the stuff that's not usually covered by hire company insured consider using one of these policies rather than paying the rental company for enhanced no-excess cover :

It means you have to fund the excess charge and claim it back, but I've had to claim 2-3 times over last few years and many rentals, and every time got settled within a month with all the paperwork supplied. You MUST have a paper copy of the final contract detailing any charges on returning the car if you go down this route - so the "drop the keys in the slot" and then find your credit card's been spanked a couple of weeks later with no prior warning options are never the best - whether you are insured or not.

Basically, after midnight arrival and a car to collect means you pick from the "others" !

i used BK Rent A Car last week and had no complaints.... it was my first time renting a car... they pick you up in a minibus outside the airport and take you to their premises which are about 2 mins down the road.. cost me 28 euro for a corsa for 4 days... i just had to bring the car back with the same amount of petrol in the tank as when i picked it up... 600 euro excess held on the credit card and this was put back when i left it back.... i was picking it up at 8pm and leaving it back at 12pm so had no out of hours queries but everything went smoothly... :)

I believe Do You Spain are just brokers for various car hire places (mainly the ones located a short mini bus ride from airport as they are the cheaper ones) so reviews of DoYouSpain actualy refer to many individual car hire places.

Yes they are - so you don;t know which company you're going to end up with until after booking. They usually give general disclaimers about extra costs but you only work it out once you get the revelation about whose car you are going to wind up with. I find it better to book direct with a company so at least you can clearly see the T&Cs before you commit.

It's true, DYS have changed - you can now choose full/full (a no brainer) and who with, from a small selection.
I don't know how recent these changes are because I hadn't looked at them for a long time.

The T&Cs will be DYS' own which you can clearly see, presumably the companies they use will abide by them.

I used DYS last year and it was fine, also the cheapest I found-I was put onto it by a Spainish lad in England. I had Goldcar, again no problems, although I paid the full amount on insurance for peach of mind.

I used do you last year and won't bother again. Was June, chose full to full tank and no excess fees etc only to end up at the desk with bk wanting about 800e for less then a 200e hire. I didn't have it on my credit card neither did my mates so we went without. Ball bags. Defo booking direct in September.

We didn't have the 600e excess either because someone had max'ed the card out and it was due to clear the next day-the only other option was to pay wavier on insurance

I paid the extra insurance last sept to, only 5e a day I think and no excess held and no problems getting back to dodgy claims on cc of damaged car. Defo worth a few euros to have peace of mind.
