Help please ! - best map for hiking and trails in Ibiza ?

I'd greatly appreciate some help tracking down a proper OS-type map of the island if there is one.

Have reasonable but not great maps which include some of the more significant 'caminos de tierra' but looking for a bit more to do some proper exploring.

Any help wd be greatly appreciated. Would ideally like to get hold of the map in the next few days as flying out again on Thursday.

Mapa Topographico Nacional de Espana has 1;25000 maps of Ibiza which covers the island into 6 or 7 areas. I bought one (798-IV) years ago which covered Ibiza town down to Sa Canal from a bookshop in Ibiza town. Not been able to get them in the UK though.

Generally maps of Ibiza have been very poor, and very few countries have maps as good as our OS for general sale :-(

Nos 772, 773 and 798 on that plan look perfect Howard.

Anyone know where I can these up in Ibiza ? Only there for 2 1/2 days so wd be good to try to get them on my way in from the airport ..

If you are taking the bus from the airport then the chances are you will arrive in Ibiza town even if it's to change buses. There is a bookshop adjacent to the "bus station" that might, but probably won't have them, there is also a good bookshop on Vara De Ray which has a selection of maps - but these of good quality will probably have to be ordered - not much use - but I found some 1;25000's there so there's hope. As you look towards the harbour with the central verge on your right the shop's on the left.

Probably the best bet is to use Google Earth and print out where you want to go and follow the paths! I've done that, not got very far, but had fun trying!!

Thanks for the tips. We're picking up a hire car at the airport straight off so I'll probably run the parking gauntlet and hunt for the shops mentioned. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Or if anyone who lives on the island would be game to lend me one (I'll give it back, honest !) for a couple of days I'd be eternally grateful and alcoholically indebted .. ???
