My saving for the holiday so far isnt going too good  so im not gona be able to be too flash with the cash! Ive heard many horror stories about the ridiculous amounts of money you can spend on a fortnights holiday there so im scared to say the least!

Plz give me any money saving tips that'll help me stretch my cash a bit further! im lookin 2 do all the major clubs at least once in the 2wks & i accept that i'll have 2 pay big bucks 4 tickets, but are there any cheaper places 2 buy tickets?

transport advice?
shopping advice (we r self-catering)?
cheap drinks?

any other tips and tricks would be great!!

It will be ok...I hope!!

Hi Bambi!I'm in the exact same situation!I'm going from 7 to 17 July and although I'm super exited I'm really scared because I'm on a budjet too..I have 600ers to spend including food..how much do you have?
I've been reading the forum's messages and several say horrible things!!Aparently everything is expensive..
But I'm hopefull..I think that with a little criativity we can have a lot of fun...I hope..but think positive..the gorgeous beaches are free..:D

Ok...
Transport

Use the bus wherever possible, its only about 2 Euros a trip and they run pretty much everywhere.
Taxi's if you have to use a taxi try getting vocal in the que there maybe someone else going to the same place as you and you can split the bill
Some clubs such as El Divino will refund your taxi fare if 3 or more of you share a cab to the event, you need to get a reciept and claim it back at the club.
San Antonio has some bikes you can hire , there is a thread about them on here somewhere, i think you just leave a deposit and you get it back when you return them.

Drink

last year we bought a bottle of Smirnoff Vodka and a pack of 4 redbull for 14E , that night i went into manumission (Privilidge) and bought one Vodka redbull for 14E! so that gives you an example of what you are up against.
Plenty of cheap drinks to be had in the local mini market have a couple before you go out to get you in the mood, you can take this to extreames ie: Carton of red wine 1Euro!
the Westend in San Antonio will give you best value for money when out for a few drinks and unlike the TV programmes of years gone by is not a bad place to be, its very vibrant and lively.
Drinks in the big clubs are ALL expensive, full stop water is your best option here ask for a glass with ice if you can it will make it last longer, failing that a bottle of San Miguel is the next cheapest if you want alcohol.

Food

Again lots of cheap options from the minimarkets, but there are lots of places to eat all over the island some cheaper than others, and cheap doesnt have to mean KFC or the like there are plenty of places offering healthier alternatives at a reasonable cost.

Money

try and work out a rough budget for each day and stick to it , maybe have an "emergency fund" (I normally have something like 20 or 30 E folded over in the back of my wallet) just incase , it will get you cab home if you get stuck.

Not all the good things in Ibiza cost money:
Watching the Sunset
The Beach
Lounging by the pool
meeting new people and chatting
have a walk round your resort town , explore you never know what you might find
Take plenty of pictures, you will always wish you had more to remind yourself of your trip.

Club Tickets

Either here (Spotlight) of Clubtix (online) will be your best bet , or buy them from places like Mambo or any of the bars selling them in San An , sometimes they do free transport to the club thrown in , shop around and make sure they are genuine tickets.

top tips there - follow that and you cant go far wrong.

thing is, its what you make of it. i could go out in manchester and drink in the living room etc (posh bar) and spunk 100 quid in a night.

or go my local, get just as drunk, have just as good a laugh and spend twenty quid.

just use your head - drink in places a bit off the track if you go to ibiza town - if in san an make the most of the 2 for 1's.

loads of cheap places to eat in say san an bay.

your main expenses will be clubs'. either get your tickets on here, so your boxed of in advance & they dont have to come out your spends, or gamble on finding free wristbands, which for some clubs are easier to find than others.

dont get stressed. boasting about how much you spent when there is a competitive thing!

Food,
Have a wander out of the tourist area`s, Round the back of San An, walk up past the ship, take a left opposite the tourist bus stop and there`s one up there ( I can drive to it but can`t tell you how to walk there ) But there are lot`s of Spanish worker`s café`s, look for the white van`s and lot`s of errrrmmm well Spanish workers in them, lol, You will see " Menu del Dia" usually somewhere around €9, not well advertised, usually just on a little blackboard inside the café`s, This is subsidized by the government for Spanish workers, ( stop`s em getting pi**ed at lunchtime) and consist`s of a full 3 course meal with a bottle of house red ! one last week was Chicken salad to start, this filled a full size dinner plate, roast pork, veg and roast spuds for main, Home made rice pud, I swap my wine for water, €8.50 all very good,
Have a good one
Tim

If you're staying in the bay the price of a carry out can be a bit cheaper than San an. We always get half pissed before heading to a club to save a bit of cash. Try not to drink at the hotel bar during the day as you will end up spending a fortune. ( that's what we always end up doing :P)

If you're not to bothered about who you see in the clubs, the less popular nights tend to be a bit cheaper as well. If you have Reps in your hotel you can haggle with them on the price of club tickets.

transport advice?

Shop around for club tickets. Most of the big clubs do deals where they will refund your taxi fare when you get to the club if there are 3 or more of you in the taxi.

Just keep checking the blackboards outside shops and bars. I'd recommend the Pussycat Bar, Bar M and the Space shops- all in San An.

It has to be an official taxi though- no illegal 1s! Just remember to get 1 at the rank with a green taxi sign on top and you will be fine.

Also take a budget of about 40-50 euro with you per night to clubs and you won't blow your money so quickly. Always leave about 5 euro for emergency if you have to get the bus back. I try not to spend any money at all during the day because the nights is what your holiday will be all about!

And last but not least NEVER pay at the door in a club- you could end up paying 20 euro more than you would with a ticket.

Don't worry too much!

Thanks everybody!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!You're the best! Lots of great tips...much more relaxed...I'm

from Portugal and I usually spend my Hollydays in the Algarve so I know how it can

get in terms of spending! But I will use every tip and It will be a trip to remember I'm

sure...See you there! (hopefully drunk and happy!:D;))

The biggest saving is to avoid any of the big clubs. I'm trying that this year for a change, living and drinking well on 50 euros a day. Was pleased to see Mauro Picotto once again at Itaca for free last night (well apart from a few 4 euro drinks) - great stuff, and good to see the DJs making an appearance at pre-parties..

Of course, if you've never been to Ibiza, just ignore all that and do the clubs - just beware of the drinks prices (of course), and scan the boards outside the bars for the best ticket prices. Yesterday there was variety for Meganite, Pussycat had the best deal at 15 euro and 2 drinks, Itaca it was 15 and free bus, some others were saying 25 euros and no perks..Some nights seem to be the same price everywhere (I bet Cream will be one)

Try my favourite tip for the sunset at Cafe del Mar its a "Pikey cocktail" buy a large slush of any flavour you like then just pour in loads of Voddy that you have brought from a supermarket, its ice cold and will last you ages as well as get you quite "in the mood" for the rest of the night.

We just got back from a week in Ibiza and managed to only spend £350. We bought food from the mini marts, same with alcohol. We drank in apartment till bout 11pm then went to west end and just argued with the PRs to get a good deal. Didnt head to the clubs till at least half one.

We made one big mistake on thursday, choose to go to es paradise over cream. No idea why, but at 3am we just jumped in a taxi with 20 euros and blagged our way in. Its pretty easy to do. Then shared a cab home.

£350 is exceptionally good bugetting Sophie, I've taking about £450-500 for a week and I'm half board, yer cream is definately where you want to be on a Thur, well done you for blagging it in free, I must try it this year, I do it in England but for some reason always thought it was a no go in ibiza but obviously not!

we av got £1500 between us for two weeks (prob a bit more to save cos we not goin til aug 22)
we r half board, an wil b gettin club an excursion tix before we go so hopefully wil b ok:?:

Another good one even before you start on Ibiza is that you can buy buisness class lounge access in the airport with Sleazy jet for about 15 quid, if you can stuff your face and drink more than 15 quids worth in two hours (I know I can) then your quids in.
If only all VIP access was as good value.

My advice is if you have to buy a drink in a big club (or even an expensive bar like Plastik) then make sure you have the right money! The barmaids try and guilt you in to giving them all your change as a tip! Having said that its nice to tip them now and again, they might even give you free shots or in one case they even gave us double our drinks altogether!

Thanks for the advice everyone!
11 days and I'll be there!
CAN NOT WAIT!

In the meantime, if anyone has anymore money-saving tips it would be greatly appreciated!!
