Actually, I think the 2004/05 numbers I had were bogus. Here's another chart I found with a comparison

------------------------------------------2005/06 (£) --------- 2004/05 (£)
Starting rate 10% on first -------------2,090 ---------------- 2,020
Basic rate (20% for savings income)
22% on next ----------------------------30,310 --------------- 29,380
Higher rate 40% on income over -----32,400 --------------- 31,400

This one's from an accountancy, so I hope it's accurate.

this one makes more sense morbyd.....................for a minute i'm sure people would think if they earned over £32K, then it'd all be at 40%.

Well, no.... in any progressive tax system, your income up to the limit of a lower tax bracket is taxed at that lower rate, while income above that is taxed at the higher rate. Wouldn't make sense otherwise.

I've become a firm believer in the flat tax. It's simple and fair. In Russia, 13% across the board. Perfect. 8)

morb - i know........what i'm saying is that sometimes the way information is presented can often make things appear much different from that which they actually are. my economics might be a bit rusty but hopefully i don't come across as that out of it 8O 8O 8O

morbyd,. get yr sums right....

still, if u wanna good earning career, be an accountant, or a lawyer.
I've had a lot of accountant friends since moving abroad (the big accounting firms tend to have a large percentage of expats). One thing that struck me about almost all of them - they can never properly add and divide the bill at a restaurant

also<. what are the cheapest supermarkets? like tesco or sainsbury´s or....? we have netto and aldi here, and fakta. those are discount supermarkets. what are the equivalents in the UK?

There's Netto and Aldi over here but only toerags shop at them cos they're so skanky  Kwik Save is another cheap one but again I wouldn't shop there.

I think Asda is meant to be the cheapest of the big supermarkets but you don't get many down south, in London it tends to be Tesco, Sainsburys and Waitrose.

Netto is quite good here, quality shop and many overall because a pint of milk costs almost 1 pound and thays concidered discount. so i think it depends on countries you´re in, judging on the level of skankiness hahah! ;)
i like sainsburys and tesco very much they ARE more expensive but also better and i love their cava selection hihi!

we've got Lidl too, they're dirt cheap. When we were kids we used to get our vodka from there

otherwise asda and tesco are the cheapest, followed by sainsburies

ok great, ill try and see whats closest to me in my area of town :-)

The only supermarket in Richmond is a Tesco Metro. Most of the big supermarkets you'll need a car to get there as they tend to be a bit of out town.
