I washed my hair in the bath last night - yep I know, I shouldnt have done this!!!!

Anyway I have gone deaf in one ear and it wont go back to normal - I tried to clear it out with a cottonbud but to no avail!!! Do I need to go to the docs or will it just get better itself :? :?

I dont like being deaf in one ear - its just really really weird!!!

Silly Billy

Hair dryer Use the warm (never hot!) setting of your hair dryer and place it about an arm's length from the ear and slowly move it back and forth. Test it on your wrist after it has been running a while before using it on the ear. The warm air will evaporate any trapped water.

Bummer. This happened to me in Ibiza last year from using the pool. My left ear went first followed by my right ear on our last day, it was very uncomfortable.

I tried some drops that the chemist gave me but they didn't work so ended up popping to my doctors when we got back. Had my ears syringed and hey presto perfect hearing! Only took a couple of minutes and wasn't unpleasant at all.

get some really small sharp implement like a hair clip, a skewer or similar and then stick it into your ear slowly and wiggle it about until you're not so deaf anymore. be careful not to press too hard too quickly cos then you will burst your ear drum or somethin and then you'll be proper ****ed!

Yes be very careful if you try this! It does sound like a wax problem though and syringing is the way forward I think

 i too cannot work out if this was a joke or not!!

should sort itself out. lie your head on the desk (stuffed ear down) for about 3 to 4 hours and it should all dribble out. nae worries.

kinda, but in extreme circumstances i have successfully performed said operation, although my ear was a little tender afterwards.

worth it though, i felt like a new person after those 20 mins of deafness were gone.

Just before betime, Warm up a teaspoon of olive oil and pour into your ear then lie on your side until it sinks in.

it should loosen the wax.

I did this on holidat this year and it worked a treat - apart from the oilive oil shooting out of my nose a few days later when i was waering a white t shirt.

But the wife thought it wa funny...

Is it wax? I figured it was either water/shampoo/conditioner - will olive oil shift one of the aforementioned.....:? :? :?

I dont really want to add anymore liquid into the ear if I can help it.....

I tried sleeping on that side last night so 8hrs of my head being at the optimum level for whatever it bloody is to seep out!!!

Might see how it goes tonight then call docs tomorrow....

The shampoo, water, etc will be trapped behind wax and you need to shift it.

The best way is defo getting it syringed, but they will tell you to use those ear drops for a few days before hand, so just tell them that you have.

That is the ONLY surefire way of getting it done - all other methods are not 100% certain.

8O :p :o

I would ring the docs now and arrange an appointment with the nurse if i were you. You could always cancel if you get bettr over night.
