Help & advice needed for the disabled traveller!

Hi guys
I am hoping someone can help me out here as I'm having no luck with other avenues! so here it goes....

I've been to Ibiza a fair few times, I'm off there again in July however, this time around one of the members of our party (my younger sister to be precise) is coming with us, not a problem in itself, but she is disabled (she needs crutches to walk on a good day etc otherwise she is in a wheelchair) Sooooooooooooo can anyone help with the following:

I've been looking around for info and advice about being a disabled traveller in Ibiza, but have had no luck. I've even contacted the local tourist board etc. I’m just after advice on places to go to eat / drink that have a reasonable disabled access? We have a lovely villa all sorted, its just finding somewhere to go eat / drink that worries me.

Any help or advice people can give would be fantastic :lol::lol:
Thanks for your time.

Hi Selx

I found this http://www.blueflag.org/blueflag/2007/Spain/Baleares which is for best beaches but that's all I can see.

I would imagine that most restaurants in Ibiza can cater for someone on crutches or a chair. The only place I can see there being a problem (IMO) is most likely in Ibiza Town along the Port and back streets as the bars are tiny and pretty tightly packed outside - that's the only thing I can think of but anywhere else - should be ok....

Good Luck with sourcing more information - have you checked on this site to see if there are any links to disabled facilities?:?

Spain (here especially) are very behind regards access for chairs. And we found Ibiza wasnt much better 2 years ago when we got married there, 2 of our guests were chair bound and found it a real struggle.:spank:

Like puppylover says, try and avoid places like the old town, although the port area shouldnt be as bad.

I was thinking more along the lines of where Base Bar and Rock Bar are and the restaurants round there - there's not an awful lot of pavement for just wandering through at the best of times - the main port/marina will be fine....8)

Out of the main resorts I would say that Playa d´en Bossa is the flattest. You wont have any trouble with hills there and many of the restaurants have easy access straight from the pavement. Easy to walk onto the beach too.
What area is the villa in? Maybe somebody here knows of some ideal places nearby?

Hi Guys.
Thank you so much for responding. I have looked at other sites for the disabled, but got no where at all. The threads have had lots of views, but no one has responded  a bit frustrating actually. And, I did get a response from the tourist board but all the info was in spanish!
Once again thank you for your help.
