Hed Kandi - Twisted Disco Party 27th March 2004

There are times when a certain club is the perfect place, and Hed Kandi at Pacha is just that. I came to my first Kandi party at pacha 5 months ago and was blowen away and have been each month since. So lets tell you about this months party.

For me it started at 5:30pm with a journey down the M40 to get into fancy london town. Arrived at about 8ish and grabbed some food and a couple of drinks, this may seem strange but i like to eat at a place were i can see the entrance to Pacha. This is so i can see the queue build up. Now let me remind you that this place does not open till 9:30 yet at half 8 there were about 50 - 75 people already waiting. By half nine, the queu is already at the end of the street. You could tell it was gonna be a good night.

On entering the club you were treated to a club decorated to the hilt. Neon tube hanging form the ceiling, a large podium in the center of the dance floor and all the extra glitz and glam you would expect at a Hed Kandi party. Ther was just that little feeling, that tonight was gonna be a bit deeper than usual.

By 10, John Jones had already got the crowd warmed up nicely with his top selection of soulful and slighty dirtier than usual selection of tunes. Setting it up nicely for Andy Norman to take over. Mr Norman built the crowd, as only he can. Once again with his soulful and uplifting selection of funky house. Half way through his set the podium cleared, now this would indicate a dodgy set. Not in this case, clear the floor because here come the naked, yes naked body painted dancers. Oh my ggod, now that was a Twisted Disco treat. Through oput the night, these dancers would make various apperances on this podium, it was a deffinate plus. Then came on Mr Mark Doyle, who plays to a party crowd like no other DJ can, great tune selection, great connection with the crowd and a great party vibe all round. The crowd just get lifted more and more as the nignt goes on, and you wonder if it has peaked to early. The answer NO. Bring on Stonebridge, the guy no one knows but yet you do know him. The guy behind the classic Robin S, Show me love and the latest anthem Put EM' High. He played a blinder and the crowd went mental. He never gave the crowd chance to rest with his choice of new and classic tunes. Wether it was slighty deeper or just a classic the crowd were singing and dancing along for 2 and a half hours. He won a lot of new fans that night. Then the night finished with the standard Kandi free for all, Doyle, Norman and Mcgivern all added somthing to make the night finish witnh a bang.

All i can say really is that it was another top Kandi party. Slighty deeper and dirtier than usual, and well worth the trip down from birmingham.

A big thank you to all the Kandi crew, from the people who decorated the club to the always eager to please DJ's.

I just can't wait till Bambu in Birmingham now. It is gonna be top. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
