Heavy Rain in Ibiza

How often does it rain heavy in Ibiza? The rain last year was incredible. On August 16th it roared down for the entire day. I have never seen anything like it. I felt sorry for anyone arriving that day. The beaches were empty. To get an idea of what it was like (for the entire day) here is a video showing the same kind of weather:

It was more than one day for me last September (many days in the North) it helps if you have a good view of the sea and sky, also a good supply of food, drinks and books if like me you had no internet or tv. Still had a great time though, and appreciate it all the more when the rain stops and the roads drain off a bit.
The weather in October was so much better.

Have had heavy rain a few times when I've been in September last September it rained really heavily on 2 or 3 occasions but never lasted for to long and after sun came out everything back to normal

We went 3rd week in september last 2 years. First time amazing sunshine and was hot. Last year absolutely rubish and spoilt our day at ocean beach.

We booked for middle of june this year hoping it will be a bit more garunteed sunshine although cant be certain.

we don't often get 'heavy rains' here. but yes sometimes, if it rains, it then pours down properly - I love that.

basically, the dryest period is from mid may until end of august. during that time it normally hardly rains at all. but as various people have expected, there's often those one or two days in august when we get a proper midsummer storm. after that it clears up again.

then there's a weather phenomenon locally called 'la gota fría' (the cold drop) which marks the end of the proper summer period. those are always a few rainy days in a row with quite a lot of heavy rain too and this can happen anytime between end of august and mid oct. in the last two years it happened in september (2013 end of aug/start of sep, 2014 mid sep). after that it clears up again, but it normally then doesn't get as hot anymore as before. so for people coming in september or october, you always have the risk to hit those days. but lately october was always amazing while september had those rainy days. I remember one october (2007) when it rained for two weeks straight, but that's totally out of the ordinary.

then the winter is actually not very wet. It's humid - very much so - but it doesn't rain too often. another period when we do get a bit more rain is just before the season starts again - march and april. again you can be super lucky and already get proper beach days (at least in april), but you can get a few rainy days too.

Was in Ibiza for 8 days middle of August last year and it lashed it down for at least half the time we were there

For the price (18e a night), Tarba is a great place!! Plus they're all very friendly and the rooms on that side of the building get the sun almost all day when out on the balcony... :)
