Have I Just Been Ripped Off?

Bit of a last minute decision to go to Ibiza for a week in late August. Settled on Sep 11 to 18th and not long got back. Great time, good apartment, etc.

Yet due to booking late we didn't have a lot of choices, so I went through AirBnB. Despite not being told this and only finding out when we arrived, the apartments were a place which you can actually book direct through, and a place I would recommend as they were certainly decent.

Looking on the apartment complex's own website now, I can't find any prices other than for the next couple of weeks (obviously you can't get prices quotes for past weeks, and next year's aren't available) but the same room we stayed in is quoted for next week at about 500 Euros. Now I know we paid a bit more as prices drop later in the season, but we shelled out £1200, or basically over double the amount if you discount AirBnB's "service" fees.

Is a price jump that high a few weeks earlier normal? Would be nice to be able to see a price list for what we would have paid for that week booking direct with the apartment owners.

If I'm just overthinking it here, my mistake, I'll shut up and delete this thread. But if someone is basically renting apartments off the owners then stinging people for double the price, I want to warn people about it.

You agreed to the price and paid it move on with life.
Charges vary all around the world for lots of reasons, perhaps the guest cancelled last minute because of these Ryan air flights and now the room owner wants to get something better then nothing or the week you booked was still in their 'peak price.
You can't really slag these people off even if someone stayed in a similar room same week for half the price you agreed what you agreed.
Move on nothing to see

Oh don't get me wrong, it is what it is and I'm not one to complain and start demanding money back. We could certainly have paid a fair deal more for somewhere not as good. I'm more thinking that if this is some sort of re-sale scheme (and I wouldn't use the term scam incidentally) then it's probably worth at least making it "known" so people don't fall for it. And I don't mean naming and shaming on here, I more mean letting AirBnB know as I'm pretty sure this is against their T&Cs.

I'm happy with what we got for the money as I say, and accept that it is entirely possible that one could pay pretty much half the price two weeks later, especially given we went right in the thick of closing parties, and the only prices I can see for those apartments now are for a time when most of the big nights are finished. Just strikes me as odd, and feels rather like when people buy club/event/concert tickets off the official source then re-sell them for a tidy profit.

Edited to remove the apartment name too, as I don't want to libel anyone here, despite not making any exacting claims as yet.
