Why's that, Laguna? Not going to visit the parents?

Me and the missus are going out to dinner with some friends for the 3rd year in a row. There's a couple of restaurants here that host good Thanksgiving dinners.

Before that, I cooked and hosted dinner for groups of friends for 8 of the previous 9 years (7 of those living abroad). I miss doing that... great way to connect with fellow expatriates and create a substitute family atmosphere, but just haven't had time the last couple of years :(
 
interestingly, this very day, i have received an unsolicited email inviting me to bet on something called thanksgiving day football. this is surely an unusual coincidence?

For the most part, it is true that Americans don't have a really good sense of irony. The best comedians aren't usually Americans, they're usually Canadian.

Nope, not this year. Unfortunately, my best friend with whose family I spend most of my holidays is also out. So to make a short story long, I am all by myself. :cry:

I live in Upsate New York. How do you think it is? The local economy is rusting to a halt, the weather is insane, everybody in my local area is a Republican and a Christian and nobody can drive.
