Happy Hours

I assume that some of the bars in the main resorts do Happy Hours - what sort of deals do they do? Do only the not so good bars do this? When, early evening 7pm to 9pm I assume? What kind of deals are involved? Just free shots, or do they do two for one drinks or anything like that? Actually what are prices like generally? I remember spending an evening in Bar M last year, and a couple of hours in Kanya I think, but no idea what prices were like... Just trying to budget our fortnight a bit - cheers. :)

all i know is that the wife and i were in a bar one night and they asked us to leave so that they could start happy hour.

i think all that happy hour/pub crawl stuff went out the window years ago. the odd happy hour that still exists will be in a bar you don't want to be in at a time when you'll be doing something else.

The west end is FULL of cheap bars with all sorts of offers going on, don't worry, you won't have to spend much to get pis*ed! Make sure you check out Space, Amnesia, Pacha and DC10 though, there is no point in going to Ibiza just to drink...

Two for One Ban

The Balearic Government is set to limit "happy hours" in 2010. A spokesman explained that the Department of Health was looking to pass new regulations which prohibited the publicity of all types of unhealthy activity, including happy hours and two for one drinks offers.

The director general for Public Health, Margalida Buades, explained that the new regulation was being drawn up at the moment, and would be put before medical associations and various social groups. She explained that while "happy hours" would not be specifically mentioned, the legislation would serve as a base to better control the sale and advertising of products which could have a negative impact on the health of the consumer, leading to the formation of a Balearic Public Health Agency. Fines for those breaking the new legislation will start at €

Those "Happy Hour" specials at the West End/Ibiza Harbor/PdB bars (which usually correspond to no specific period of time) are often either double-priced to begin with or use bad cheap booze.

All this legislation will do is make the bars advertise one cheap drink instead of 2-for-1

Agreed:D

We have had some aweful 'free' drinks in the Ibiza Harbour area. First one is usually kosher but the freebie is often damn yuk!

was slightly startled to come across this when I googled "San Antonio" and "Happy Hour"

New Laws in Ibiza Town

At a recent Council meeting Ibiza Town Hall unanimously approved new legislation, which will prohibit bars from offering incentives to drink alcohol including the offers of a “free bar”, “two for the price of one” or “happy hour” or any other similar messages, either by pamphlets, written boards or by word of mouth. Fines will be applied from €150 in the case of first offenders and will run up to €3,000 in the most serious of cases. If the legislation is approved (it has just got past the first stage) it will also be an offence to employ “PRs” or cars displaying publicity after one o'clock in the morning, and any form of advertising must first be approved by the Town Hall and the corresponding licence fee paid.

However, bars will not be the only ones affected and election campaigning is also set to change. From now on vehicles will not be allowed to use loud hailers to publicize their political parties.

The habit of leaving publicity material on windscreens to advertise goods and services will also be banned.

The PP opposition party councillor, Adrián Trejo, expressed his satisfaction with the measures and stated that he hoped that these new laws were obeyed to the letter.
