Happy Hardcore in Ibiza??

Do, what part of the States are you from, KH?

And what music do you like besides breaks and reggae?

(and why have breaks taken over the US clubbing scene!?)

I thought next you were going to ask about country line dancing

my mother in law goes line dancing every week here and don't forget that the irish come here in their thousands every april for their own dancing festival.

course they do. it's all big belt buckles, bouffant hair and neckerchiefs, and that's just the blokes!

Morbyd -- I am from New Jersey...

I am into most kinds of music beside breaks and reggae...hip hop, freestyle, house, trance, rock, and i've been listening to a lot of pop music latley...

I got into the rave scene around '96, and from then on I was hooked onto electronic music..

last summer i saw so many shows though....brand new heavies, fiona apple, madonna, pearl jam, and kelly clarkson...so call me eclectic :)

and please tell me where breaks have taken over in the US because I would ilke to go there lol......there hasn't been any big breaks nights or one offs around philadelphia or NYC since around 2001...

Hmmm... last time I went clubbing back in the States was in Seattle last summer. The kids really seemed to be into their breaks. It was one snapshot, though, and probably shouldn't be taken as representative.

I will say that last time I tried to go clubbing in my hometown, DC, it was really hard to find nights that weren't hard house or hip-hop. That was 4 years ago though.

I'm sure NYC has a lot more variety and a lot more house music.

It's funny you mention seattle, actually breaks did have a place there a few years back...funny enough I was booked to play there (as I am a breaks dj) at a nice one off party there a while ago...Dj Whatt lives there now too, but he hasn't released anything in god knows how long...I heard Vancouver is where it's at nowadays.

you said your from DC..I assume your familiar with Nation/Buzz!! Well don't know if you heard, but they are soon tearing that club down to make way for a baseball stadium...such a shame too...I had some of my best times clubbing there. At almost every dance music club about 4 years ago in DC you would also usually find 1 or 2 decent breaks dj's playing. My friend Imri from Philly would play down there a lot too...

as for NYC -- there are way more clubs, and yes way more house music...but a lot of bad house music too. me and my girlfriend like going to the copacabana when we visit. a lot of floors, and a great selection of music on any night. i really miss the tunnel, limelight and the old sound factory though.

oh man....those were the days. ill bet ibiza won't compare though. this summers taking forever to get here!! :(

Ah yes, I've been to Nation once about 6 or 7 years ago with the missus (we were told it was a house night... turned out to be hard house!). If I remember correctly, it's in the same building that earlier hosed the DC Ballroom, where I sometimes went in my youth.

Nearby was a gay club called Tracks which was my first club (Friday nights were mixed... though boys night on Saturday was also a blast).

I think most of that neighborhood got razed for the stadium. Sad news indeed.

Can't stand the stuff. I like house and techno. Can occasionally deal with breaks. Rarely with trance. Not much time for r&b/hip-hop.

Must say your summer concert list is definitely eclectic. My list for last summer/autumn was equally all over the place - Stereo MCs, Nitzer Ebb, DePhazz, The Proclaimers, tAtu/Shakira/Black Eyed Peas, Sting, Madonna, Sisters of Mercy.

Tatu and Sisters of Mercy in one summer! I'm sure there's something I should say to that ... better I need to sit down first

I didn't even knew tAtu still performed....I seriously thought when i heard "all the things she said" for the first time, that they were destined for one hit wonder status.

Well, they're Russian, and I live in Russia, so yes they are still around

I only went to the tATu/Shakira/BEP show for sh1ts and giggles, as I'm not a serious fan of any of them. It was an outdoor show just outside Red Sq, so I sat across the river sipping beer and enjoying the weather.

I must say, however, that of the 3 acts, tATu put on the best show.

Liam - ya, I know... strange juxtaposition... but finally seeing the Sisters was long-delayed fulfillment of a childhood dream!

do the tatu girls still lez it up on stage??

cant even remember what they look like, just that one was incredibly hot and the other sadly, was not
