everybody's hero

I thought it wasn't til the end of the month?

From Wikipedia,

David Bowie (born David Robert Jones on 8 January 1947) is an English Grammy Winning singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actor, producer, arranger and audio engineer whose work spans more than four decades. Throughout the 1970s he took cues from art, philosophy and literature and appeared to elevate pop and rock to a more sophisticated level. He is also a film and stage actor, music video director and visual artist.

nearly everyone in music around these days cites bowie as an influence.

truly deserving of the much abused legend tag. :D 8)

anyone know of any wife beating stories? these days you can't qualify to be a legend in any discipline unless you have a string of wife bashing convictions and the odd spell in the nick.

Que?!

I couldn't really give to hoots about him really (i.e. he hasn't been nearly sampled enough in any funky house tunes....haha). I don;t particularly like his music and the whole ziggy thing passed me by.

I do like his remixes however. Particularly Mr Brightside, and The Faint - Conductors

Besides, if anything he scares the f*ck out of me. My first Bowie experience was Labrynth, and frankly I don't really want to know him after that.

Don't you know Karen? It's Dave that's scared to breathe without permission:lol:

I've just put on Laberinth to celebrate.
Love it.

I love Bowie, I've seen him twice and he was my second hero when I was 16 (first was Prince  )

I prefer "The Hunger" than Laberinth, tho, where he is vampirised by Catherine Deneve and Susan Sarandon, and where you can see Peter Murphy singing Bella Lugosi 8)

The Hunger is a great movie 8) Seen it several times.
The Labyrinth is also a classic, of course... ah, growing up in the 80s.

Bowie is legend. 3+ decades with musical gems throughout. While his 80s music was discounted by many, Modern Love is still one of my favorite tunes of all time. Plus, the man worked with Iggy Pop. 'nuff said!
