got a really bad head cold at the mo, but have got into a nice gym rythm ie 3 times a week and the toned tummy et al is back, due to go tomorrow morning, but is it a good idea?? have heard that it's not??

Should be ok if the colds only in your head.

If you develop a cough and/or it goes to your chest - REST!

I was in the same situation a few weeks ago. I didn't feel great and continued training, then one day i had to stop half way through.

Did the first press up had to stop before the final one?

I've got a cold and a chesty cough so I've stopped going to the gym... quite annoyed because I just started going and was getting into a rhythm and starting to see a difference.

oh well, will start again when I get back from holidays, but since I'm a smoker I'm not even sure if my cough will have gone by then....!

cheers mate, that makes sense ;)

Leave out the exercise until you feel better. Exercising temporarily depresses the immune system, which gives the virus a better chance of taking hold. Couple of days off isn't going to give you a belly. ;)

JJinit, i think you've jinxed me.

I feel like i'm coming down with a cold. Suddenly feel all sniffly, headache, tired!

I'm sure i pick up my colds IN the gym - all that sweat and dodgy air con.

:x

I only have to look at a gym and I get ill

I sign up, go once, get ill and then end up paying them for about six months before I get round to admitting that I'm not going to go and cancel the membership

Your body is having such a workout trying to fight off the cold that you shouldn't lose any results you've gained. If your gym has a sauna, try to use that as well. Cold germs can't survive in high temperatures so it will help you clear up faster. I remember last winter feeling a cold coming on but then disappearing after I went in the sauna. Remember to bundle up when you go out, though. You'll feel invincible at first but you will get sick if you don't wear something warm!
