Grown Up Christmas Dilemma

Late joining in on this one, but I think the answer is obvious, as many have stated: spend the day apart with your respective families. It's the only answer that makes sense.

Aaaah that's sad...but necessary.

Christmas is all about the family...and after being apart you've got the grandest excuse ever to get completely wasted when you get back! 8O 8O 8O

Only you can decide wots right hun. Wotever you do, dont be guilted into anything. I've just had it in the neck because i'm not going home this year at xmas, but with having to work between xmas and new year, I had to make the choice of either spending my first xmas with Jp and his family (it's the first time his family have invited one of his g/f's back) or spending it with my family (my sister has just found out she's 3 months pregnant, and my dad came out of hospital today)

Given that my family dont bother to come and see me or call, I chose to spend xmas this year with the other half and his family.

Selfish maybe, but I dont fancy driving 5 1/2 hours on boxing day to spend one night at home before having to drive 3 1/2 hours back the next day then go to work.

Families eh? Who'd have em?

Hi lovely,
Just read your post, :( did you manage to sort it ? I honestly don't know what I'd do. :? You must both feel really torn.

We were supposed to go to Dom's folks this year but I changed it to spend it with my Daddy. We're gonna go to Devon Boxing day though (treck or what)

I bet it will be strange not seeing Tom Cristmas day but it's only one year I guess.

Hope all works out.

Hello my little wine drinking buddy ;)

I think we're just going to be grown-up about it and spend Christmas day with our respective families and then Tom is going to drive up north on Boxing Day. Like you and everyone says it's only one year in hopefully the rest of our life together.

Don't blame you for wanting it to spend with your Dad ;) If you're anything like me I'm going to spoil my old Grandad to bits this year ;)

Now I've got the problem of how to get all my shit up north with me 8O Tom said he would drive me up on 24th but I don't want him doing that horrible journey up and down the M1 twice in 3 days and my Mum and Dad said they'd come and pick me up but they've got lots of stuff to get ready for Christmas. I'm going to look like a mad old bag lady on the train laden down with bags galore cos I'm not used to travelling up north on trains

Hopefully see you for a spritzer over the hols ;)

I've not thought bout things like that :? I'm so used to piling up Tom's car with all my crap and going 'Drive Jeeves' Trains are going to be rammed on the 24th aren't they :?

I think I have to go from Kings X to Doncaster and then I'll get my mum and dad to pick me up there cos we only get 2 trains stopping at our village a day

Right Babs' project for tomorrow, book seat on train, thanks for the reminder

I had seriously never thought about booking ticket I was just going to roll up @ Kings X on Christmas Eve and expect the best seat on the train

I'd actually checked train times tonight, some of them are really quick less than 2 hours if they don't stop off anywhere but some of them are 4 hours  I can see muggins here ending up on a 4 hour one now cos all the fast ones are booked
