some of you might know that radio stations like FLAIX FM or IBIZA GLOBAL RADIO are broadcasting ilegally (not like CADENA 100/CADENA COPE or 40 PRINCIPALES/CADENA SER for example). it was announced long time ago that those would have to stop but nothing happened.......... till now :!:

as some of you have noticed FLAIX FM disappeared some days ago. according to my contact at CADENA 100 david moreno has been there 3 times during the last week or so asking for a job..........

and IBIZA GLOBAL RADIO also received a letter from the balearic government asking them to stop before august 31st, even if they are still on air. seems like igor marijuan will have to find a new job soon too..........

a totally different story is RADIO UC, which has been broadcasting for many years but as its a non-profit collective wont be stopped. lets remember that FLAIX FM and IBIZA GLOBAL RADIO, even if they are ilegal, make money with the advertisements. some people dont understand why putting an ad on CADENA 100 or 40 PRINCIPALES costs so much.......... well, because those are legal!!

can't believe that they had to close their doors

BSIDE SESSIONS
Hi to all,
I am writing to inform you that as of midnight 31st of August 2005 'Flaix Ibiza 105.0' is no longer broadcasting in Ibiza and Formentera, this was due to circumstances beyond our control.
As you may have heard in the past either by rumour or publication, the governing body of radio in Spain were going to flex their muscles and withdraw most of the temporary licenses for radio broadcasting from the Balearic islands for re distribution. This was supposedly timed to coincide with the temporary licensees applying and having full licenses awarded (with new frequencies), so that a smooth transition from one to the other would not affect their service. This unfortunately for us at Flaix was not the case and a notice of 24 hours was given.
As you can imagine for us at Flaix this came as a shock and a huge disappointment having built our service from nothing a year ago to dominating the dance waves and attracting an average of 4,000 listeners daily, including being possibly the first Spanish licensee to broadcast from a Spanish station in English on the island.
Our situation now leaves us with no choice but to continue and pursue with the already applied for license and frequency, which from the powers that be could take anything up to 4-6 weeks.
In the meantime we the 'broadcasters' will be relocating our studio to the new purpose built offices of the national newspaper group Ultima Hora here in Ibiza, with new equipment and website, but one thing that wont be changing is our attitude, drive and passion to deliver the finest non conformist dance music to 'Ibiza' the mecca of dance and beyond.
Thank you for your support over the last year and we hope we have left a good taste in the mouth of the discerning music lover.
See you in a few weeks. MIYAGI.......
