I was surfin the web at my internship at Universal the other day and came accross that female rapper Shawnna. Do you know her stuff? Shes got that new track out "Gettin' Some" with Ludacris. Well apparently Kanye West's song Gold Digger was originally written for Shawnna, with the chorus "I ain't sayin' I'm a gold digger, but I ain't messin'..." Shawnna passed on the song, allowing West and Jamie Foxx to record a reworked version of the song, which became a smash hit and received wide critical acclaim. Thats crazy. I also found out that her father is 4x Grammy Award winner Blues Guitarist Buddy Guy. You should read some more stuff on this girl.. www.shawnnamusic.com

Interesting choice of 'chatroom' too. Not the most hip-hop flava'ed forum!

Indeed - conversely, somewhere in the world there's some folks with flags hanging out of there pocket, but only the left side, yeah that's the Cripp side, wondering why the hell they're being spammed about some dude called Steve Lawler.

Target audience? Not on your Nelly*.

*SWIDT?

Most of the people on this forum are into house, techno, trance, breaks, and all the various sub-genres of electronic dance music.

Though I'll admit to having grown up on gothic, industrial and British rock/pop music. I still get into a bit of 80s 'New Wave' as well. And of course, the punk stuff from 70s Ramones up through 90s Green Day.

Never been a fan of hip-hop, which I suppose is going a bit against the grain seeing as I'm African-American. Even if there were some original artists 'back in the day' (like Run DMC or Ice-T), it's all pretty much recycled crap now.
